Adren Phuture (pronounced Adren Future) is obsessed with combining the world of noise, ambient, and powerful rhythms. With a mission to continuously push the boundaries of sonic experiences, he strive to express his emotions through music and vent the anger caused by the dystopian era we live in. Passionate dreamer, mechanical designer by profession. Adren is also an aspiring hard surface 3D artist and machine learning researcher.

He is the founder of the group Broken Bones, which focuses on organizing events centered around rhythmic noise and experimental music.
 Together with Meszkov he forms the duo called 8792.
They're focusing on harsh aesthetics in music, putting emphasis on dungeon,  noisy techno with dark ambient elements.

Operating as a label and club night organizer in Ljubljana, DE/FRAGMENT enjoys the privilege of unparalleled creative control for producers to play their material in a space they rent. Put differently, DE/FRAGMENT understands that the only way without compromises is one without middlemen.

The collective is set to release its third VA compilation [DEFRAG009] on 8/12/2023. It will contain a respectable diversity of sound fragments from prolific Slovene underground talent. Put bluntly, individual statements of artistic intent are expressed as no-nonsense club material.

Electronic Tesseract has been given the honor of premiering the final fragment, Stagnat's - We Better Stop Here Because The Horses Are Dead. Edgy, driving peaktime for those who want their minds to be swept away into a rabbit hole.

Reminiscent of Slovak offbeat productions, such as the weighty DJ Boss, action starts immediately in form of a perfectly executed combat roll. Would it sound more tense if you combat rolled of your horse, which died mid-gallop, and immediately broke into a run for your life.

The heart is pounding to the percussion, periodically deafened by the background screeching of curses carried by the wind. As a long-term survivor of this land, the fast-paced kicks instill a killer resolve to keep moving forward no matter what, even if the horses are dead.

This track will turn any club into a massacre through a merciless groove that stops for nothing, especially not the horses.

New Signal: Stagnat - We Better Stop Here Because The Horses Are Dead [DEFRAG009]

Defrag is extreme sound design and audio rhythmic experimentation of Jeff Dodson, a composer and sound designer living in Los Angeles CA.

Defrag's influences like IDM, dubstep and experimental abstract glitch, filter into his music. With his classical background giving it a more cinematic progression. Orchestrated strings, piano, classic analogue synths and software processing add up to a fusion of analogue warmth, modern classical and raw digital abstraction.

That he chooses instead to make his attention to detail the vehicle for his songs rather than their focus is not only admirable, it’s a definitive comment on his priorities and where they lie. Defrag makes complicated music, but you can completely forget that in the moment and just experience it.

About this release:
Standards & Practices is proud to present "Stave Interpretations” — remixes of original material by Stave @stavesoundsystem, featuring Israel Vines @israel-vines, Patrick Russell @ptrckrssll, Ken Meier @ken-meier, Karkossyn @karkossyn, and YŌKA @yokatechno.

The first interpretation comes courtesy of Patrick Russell — who, in addition to being a visionary DJ, has proven himself to be a terrific remixer and producer in his own right — contributes a version of "Drum Four" that is arguably one of his best to date: a sinuous, grimy excursion into unknown waters brimming with atmosphere and menace.

Following Russell, Krohn himself brings us a disintegrated, alternative take on "Drum Three."

Karkossyn, aka Bristol native Tavis Hitchcock, is easily one of the most thrilling discoveries we've made as of late. His split EP with Stave ("New Values" on S&P) is only his second release to date, and both devastating interpretations of “Relearn/Forget” on display here, two juddering, broken beat behemoths, hint at even greater things to come.

Newcomers YŌKA contribute a suitably monstrous, industrial-tinged version of "Drum Two."

Veteran DJ and producer Israel Vines, who recently released a pair of brilliant EPs on Tresor — including a superb collaboration with Camille Altay as CAIV — uses a fast-paced, halftime approach to rethink “005", full of energy and an almost unbearable, nerve-jangling tension.

And finally, S&P co-founder Ken Meier, who recently completed a triumphant solo venture on our sublabel Double Standards ("Imitable Behaviors”), delivers an 85 bpm version of “002" that turns the original on its ear — all terse, clipped sonics, stripped to the bone with lush pads that add cinematic sweep and grandeur.

Hey all. So this edition of the show is bittersweet, as like many of you, I'm dealing with the death of Steve Albini. A person who has had a HUGE impact on the music many of us love. His death has hit hard, harder than I would have expected but that is the power of sound I suppose. It impacts you deeper than you think.

Albini's career of work is large, and I've just scratched the surface here. I hope that I've introduced you to some new artists and sounds, whilst reminding you of others. Big thanks out to everyone who suggested tracks.

Producing a special like this - trying to sum up the career of a musician and engineer whose work has been across so much sound that has in turn made up a chunk of my understanding and enjoyment of sound is always gonna fall short. But it has been cathartic putting this together, and broadcasting it as I have. 

You could spend many hours on just one of the many, many bands he worked with. Let alone his own material as Big Black, and Shellac. And I suggest you should.

Always known to be someone working on the fringes, in the shadows, a true underground artist, Voidloss has become a name associated with progression, a high production aesthetic,  emotional extremes, of euphoria and darkness, with iconic releases on both high profile and underground labels.  His own label Singularity Recordings pushes forward and explores the dark and experimental, leading edge of techno, championing other artists working with a similar aesthetic of uniquity, artistry and underground mentality.
His Live PA`s take people on a deep emotional journey, both for the soul and for dancefloor, breaking genre rules, remaining ahead of expectation.  And his releases and label philosophy continue to be a strong force for individuality and dissent amongst a sea of compliance.
