Continually flirting with a range of genres like techno, ambient techno, electro and house on numerous EPs and LPs, he also operates in sonic territory that has no easily identifiable name. As one of the most prolific artists in the scene over the last 10 years, he has become an essential voice in the often crowded conversation: he is someone who always speaks clearly and captivatingly and has done so via more than ten full length albums and more than 30 EPs on labels like @delsinrecords, @clone-nl, @2020visionrecordings, @echocord and his own label @transcendent-records. With this performances he focusses on musical content rather than equipment. Originating from Japan, KMG (@kentaro-kmg) has been naturally drawn to music. As soon as he could, he equipped himself with a proper vinyl set-up and began digging with a background in soul, hip hop and R&B.

KMG has built his eclectic collection for over a decade, since life in the states. In 2016, he moved to Vietnam and has shifted his focus to dance music.  This has seen him dive deeply into House and Techno and take inspiration from various sound and mixing influences. Those sets are a clear indicator of the depth, thought and time that it has taken to create such experiences, which continuously contribute to unfolding the underground music community in Hanoi.

KMG regularly plays at those underground venues and parties, such as Studio Adventure, Savage Club, Birdcage, The Warehouse, The Observatory(Saigon) , Acadiana(HongKong), DNA Paradise(Kyoto)
Mix releases, Acid Camp(US) HUM(VN), homebp, SPB Passion(Russia), Technophobe (South Korea). KMG also join to industry sound collective called Cipher (Hong Kong) since 2019.

ローマ出身、プロデューサー／DJ。幼少時代には既に音楽のとりこになっており（13歳の時には、既にレコード収集家！）いつも音楽と学業に打ち込んでいた。2000年には政治学の博士課程を修了し、音楽への情熱をプロレベルまで引き上げ、長年に渡り独特のDJスタイルを磨き上げてきた。1999年以降のローマBrancaleoneでの"residential stints"や、2004年から2006年の間にはafterhours specialistとしてベルリン"Panoramabar"でのPLAYが彼の歩んできた歴史に刻まれている。プロデューサーとしては初期作のKitchen Tools (Virgin, 2001)以降、ベルリンの Orangegroove、Lan Muzic、ローマの Elettronica Romana、DozzyRecords、Rayliard Rec、Wagon Repair、Geophone records、Persona Records、そして友人のNuel. D.と立ち上げたAguaplanoから、自身が"マイクロトランス" と提唱するサウンドを多数送り出している。

─ミックスの録音環境を教えてください。

2010年1月29日に、東京のUNITで行われた「MOKMAL SOUND PRESENTS 420TOUR×ART」でのプレイを、Rolandのデジタルレコーダー” EDIROL R-09”でレコーディングしたものだよ。たくさんの人が来場してくれてすばらしいパーティーだったよ。


─このミックスのコンセプト、アイデアなどを教えてください。

音楽とともに「旅へ」―これがコンセプト。これは、パーティーから発せられたエネルギーから即興的に生まれたんだ。このポッドキャストのために、トータル4時間プレイした中から一部分を選んだよ。


─近況と最近の活動について教えてください

“Further Records”から今年の終わりころにリリースされる、僕自身のファーストソロアルバムの制作に取り掛かっているよ。”Further Records”は本当にクールなロンドンのレコードショップ／レーベルなんだ。このアルバムは、最初にカセットテープ、そしてそのあとにCDとヴァイナルでリリースされる予定だよ。

There's a scant amount of planning that goes in to these other than maybe an overarching idea of what we want to start and end with, and maybe a couple Discogs links for reference points mixed in. But that is literally it. We trust each other, and we're confident we can do it, and do it damn well. As always, she's on the audiences' right, I'm on the left, and we go one-for-one the entire time. No escape!!

This recording from October of 2019 at OHM in Berlin is her and I opening the party from zero and doing six hours of tension building hypnotics. Many thanks to the @patternsofperception crew for allowing us to do this, and for letting us use the Rane 2016 even though you've never touched one before.
