In a world increasingly under the sway of algorithms and with the advent of AI, potentially signaling an epochal moment as important as the Industrial Revolution, Micron Audio releases the next in its series of forward-thinking electronic music: BOTS by Belgium’s 6SISS.

Much as early electro was driven by the twin influence of the rhythm of the factories of Detroit and a bold imagining of life beyond (or below) our world, BOTS takes its cues from the ideas and concepts surrounding our potential near-future such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

At times the music swirls with sounds that bring to mind nascent intelligence slowly working out its purpose, albeit an intelligence alien to that found in animals. In other moments the rhythm shudders and shakes like the microsecond “thoughts” of an AI slowed down infinitesimally, overlaid with speech manipulated into sounds completely unrecognizable yet strangely familiar, like listening in to a conversation between two programs.

Released on 12” record and, more fittingly, digital, BOTS returns electro to its roots in envisioning the future whilst freeing itself from the paradigm of the genre’s past to create a soundtrack of the AI world; a view beyond the algorithm.

O motif dessa música partiu de um áudio das ondas sonoras que viajam pelo espaço. Captado pela primeira vez em 1969, o Pulsar do Caranguejo (PSR B0531+21 ou PSR J0534+2200) é uma estrela de nêutrons relativamente jovem localizada na Nebulosa do Caranguejo. O pulsar tem aproximadamente 25 km de diâmetro e os "feixes" do pulsar giram uma vez a cada 33 milisegundos, ou 30 vezes por segundo. Essas rotações em alta velocidade geram ondas sonoras que se propagam pelo espaço. O som foi utilizado como um riff de textura para complementar a bateria eletrônica da Roland, a 808. 

The motif of this song came from an audio of sound waves traveling through space. First captured in 1969, the Crab Pulsar (PSR B0531+21 or PSR J0534+2200) is a relatively young neutron star located in the Crab Nebula. The pulsar is approximately 25 km in diameter and the pulsar's "beams" rotate once every 33 milliseconds, or 30 times per second. This high-speed rotation generates sound waves that propagate through space. The sound was used as a textured riff to complement Roland's 808 drum machine.

ăThe Flying Guillotine 2Ň is the bloody sequel to SerenaceŐs first appearance on Shaw Cuts in 2019, continuing the head-lopping violence with a group of freedom fighters lead by the heroic Ma Teng battling against the evil despot Emperor Yung and his reign of terror. 
Teng has developed a protective device, similar to a spiky metal umbrella, that allows him to defend against the deadly flying guillotine attacks of the violent regime. ăCurrentŇ, its bombastic drum patterns, razor-sharp synth waves and vicious vibe strengthens the rebels to resist the brutal assaults. 

But the Emperor immediately reacts, creating a double flying guillotine to counter Ma TengŐs iron umbrella and the rebel union is left defenseless again. ăAiming From A DistanceŇ, a vivid breakbeat cut combining rolling percussion, arpeggiated synth chords and sirens from hell, raises the rebels' hopes to give them another answer. 
Secret insurgent Na Lan infiltrates the EmperorŐs inner circle by gaining his trust with a group of female warriors whom he allows to train with the flying guillotine palace guards. However, Na Lan only wants to steal the plans of the improved weapon and deliver it to the rebel squad, in order to devise another counteracting force. With the crisp bassline and the energy-filled breaks of ăTest 21Ň, the rebels can gain an insight into the elaborated guillotine and find a possible way to defeat it.

FarronŐs profound techno version of ăCurrentŇ brings in the necessary tension for the final showdown. The improved double flying guillotine VS a new secret defensive system. Will the rebels be able to team up and defeat the tyrant once and for all? No matter what happens, the saga continues.
