Vojasa’s core musicians, “Guszti”, “Csompi” and “Csika” have grown up in the vlach gipsy tradition having absorbed this great music and dance within their families who are steeped in tradition, and lovari is their mother tong alike Hungarian. Coming from well know Hungarian gipsy groups they have started Vojasa 2 years ago. Péter the romungro gipsy bass player, whose roots are from the hard rock scene became a member, Kornél, a percussionist from Hungarian pop stepped in the adventure , and recently Dávid a Hungarian Jewish jazz guitarist and singer joined . Evolving together as friends they have built their unique sound between tradition and modernity. Mixing urban interpretations of traditions and compositions, their music is sprinkled with other eastern gipsy influences without losing its very peculiar Hungarian gipsy soul: the vocals and the powerful rhythms of vlach tradition, their music is sincere, authentic and contemporary at the same time. Vojasa’s name meaning “teasing” brings a pop version of the tradition, sung mostly in romanes, resisting anti-gypsy feeling in giving good vibes!
