Have you ever fell, the adrenalin kicks in and you’re back up off the floor right back to usual programming instead of realizing you’ve just injured yourself.
Later, you give yourself the chance to assess the damage and well, it is not too bad,  it is going to hurt tomorrow.  
At that pinnacle moment of tumbling over you know you have to get back up, keep moving. 

This song was inspired by an event just like that. It was nothing special, I just bailed. Hard. The funniest part was that I was more concerned with catching my cell phone rather than myself and so I got a couple of big roasties. Somewhere on my phone are some selfies of a roughed up me with blood stained arms and legs that I took to document (although I’m not sure anyone would want to see those).

The Worst Part was a parting gift between two friends. My good friend Jake was immigrating and I was not so amped to see him leave. We started our first band together in high school, he introduced me to so much of the music I know today and I am pretty sure if it was not for him I would not be a producer. He was the kid in high school spending endless nights figuring out how to produce and DJ.
The night we made this song we never thought it would materialize into a release. There was a moment when the groove was just right, Jake laid down a keyboard solo and I knew I wanted to release this as an ode to our friendship and to all our friends. I turned to Jake and said “what should we call it?” he laughed frustratedly and smiled “ah, that’s the worst part”.
It made me think how the worst part could be as trivial as having to think up a name of a song or as sad as seeing a friend go far away (even though its onto bigger and better). Nonetheless there will always be a the worst part but we will always find a way to move forward.

Hitpapa (an Afrobeat artist from Benin, Edo, Nigeria) and Volume (a Johannesburg-based musician and DJ) connected at a party in 2022, sparking a collaboration. Volume, along with mentor and collaborator Sevven, remixed Hitpapa's single "Bank on It" in their cutting-edge Dolby Atmos studio in Johannesburg. The remix, tailored for dance-floors, brings a fresh dimension to the original track.

Bank on It (Hitpapa) Volume X Sevven Remix

I present Episode 26 of the "Volume Radio Show" (VRS), hosted on South African online radio "We Are Lilies," airing on the first Saturday of every month.

This one-hour mix kicks off with my unreleased remix of a track by Hit Papa. I used this as inspiration for future sets that I'd like to present, and I'm stoked with how it turned out. I had a ton of fun making this mix, so I hope you enjoy it and maybe even have a dance or two.
