For this single, Adrian Andrei floats roughly between two musical worlds – and he does this with his two monikers Freqax for Drum and Bass and Freqkid for more experimental music.

Let’s start with the Drum and Bass track. “Giver” is a progressive sci-fi track with several sounds that seem to run in opposite directions, which in a very clever way create a compelling groove. The strings synth also gives the tune a floating character.

In “Lucid Dream” he naturally throttles the BPM as Freqkid, but not the intensity of the bass drum, which progresses stoically here. A melancholy melody joins the trippy basic character of the song, which could serve as a suitable soundtrack for a farewell to whatever. Definitely not from Adrian. You will soon hear him again on UTM Records!

An international collaboration spanning from Berlin to Australia, this EP features the trademark flavours of each talented producer combined to create this exciting project. 

From the halftime switch-up of the title track 'Resolution' to the off-beat, metallic stabs of 'Ricochet', there is plenty of the distinctive sound you would expect from this pairing of producers. 'Tokyo Drift' flies along neon expressways as if taken directly from a high-octane chase sequence. The tough stepping 'Armour Piercing' makes the most of its textured, rolling bassline, and 'Memory Leak' completes the project with its dreamlike, robotic, liquid musicality. 

Cinematic and expansive, this varied EP is a testament to the combined talents of this unique pairing.

Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. To be released on January 26th via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, it marks an exciting start to 2015.

Lead track ‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs that underpin dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops.

Second track ‘Until The World Ends’ proves once again both acts’ enduring versatility - kicking off with a bass-heavy dubstep tones complimented by vocal duties from State Of Mind’s fellow New Zealander PNC, before

switching to a manic, intelligently structured groove for the remainder.

‘Bad’ opens with progressive percussion and softly-worked synths that move euphorically to a pounding drum break, whilst fourth track ‘Jack Nicholson’, featuring an imitable sample of the man himself, is a bass-fuelled shockwave of a track. Final track.

‘Moonbox’ closes the EP in true Blackout fashion, with signature frenetic beats and firing drums rounding off proceedings in style.

Black Sun Empire have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long term accomplices State Of Mind - whom released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via the label earlier this year - feeds into the hype surrounding Blackout as the label looks ahead to 2015.
