Euclid: 
While working at Harvard in 2004, mathematical researcher Godried Toussaint made an amazing discovery. All important world music rhythms, apart from Indian music, are based off of the Euclidian algorithm. Euclidian rhythms are created using this mathematical algorithm to equidistantly divide sound and silences over a selected time. Whether intentional or not, it is a fascinating melding of math and art that seems to happen effortlessly throughout nature. For this song I used 10 unique Euclidian rhythms and tried to blend them into a seamless flowing river of percussive and tonal symmetry. 

Ascending Passage: 
This song was created on the 4 year anniversary of our trip to Egypt for the Great Convergence. The chanting samples in this song were recorded in the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid of Giza. About 20 of us went into the King's Chamber around midnight. The acoustics were absolutely stunning and the reverberation of was seemingly infinite. It was almost as if the room were created for some some sort of sonic experience. We all began to ohm and harmonize for over 10 minutes. Everyone sounded so amazing. I was able to capture 2 recordings. One from the room and one from the hallway leading to the chamber, otherwise known as The Ascending Passage. It only seemed appropriate to use these recordings in a somewhat psytrance song to truly capture the intensity of this experience.

'Deep Dive' is the new EP from VOLO.

"The water theme for this EP symbolizes the subconscious and unknown. As with bodies of water, we often see the surface, but cannot easily see into the depths. The term ‘Deep Dive’ has been anachronistically popping up everywhere for me and I believe during this time on Earth we are all being asked to question everything and find the truth ‘deep’ within ourselves. 

At the time of writing these tracks, I was doing quite a deep dive myself. I felt inspired to somewhat isolate myself and do consistent meditation, breathwork, and contemplation exercises. These tracks emerged out of the abyss of that experience. I took field recordings from the Pacific ocean and local lakes in California which helped create the atmospheres of the tracks."
