The Tbilisi-based DJ and producer drawns from a wide array of influences and ideas absorbed through his formative years in the Tbilisi techno scene. His sound is an emotive blend and amalgamation of body music, post-punk, rave and aggravated techno. Expect destructive drum programming and pulsating rhythms. EBM, industrial, wave, drone, it’s all in there and it’s done magnificently well by Jerome Tcherneyan and Barkosina Hanusova. A couple collaboration dating back to about 2016, the two met in the London scene and almost instantly started recording together to start their project on impulse, something that seems to drive their sound through every release since. 

With increasing acclaim through each record, the two sent a message with their album on the Italian VEYL recordings ‘Suicide Disco’ that really imposed their sound internationally with tracks like ‘Face to Face’ and ‘I’m Still a Pill’ which are classics at this point.

Baudelaires poetries remain one of the most influential centrepieces in my book collection and they are maybe my most re-read volume of poems. Like all great poets he was an acute observer and an ingenious translator of feelings. His words paint precise and poignant pictures of the shapeless and inenarrable, like a mood or a sentiment. Sometimes only music can have the same effect on me. However, the fascination and the bloom of „Les Fleurs du Mal“ goes beyond that. Baudelaire's observations, could be considered overall as „negative“, for example as pessimistic - like the unfulfilled human pursuit of integrity -, or as repulsive - like the tristesse of urban hedonism. Induced by the linguistic beauty the emotional experiencing of the seemingly „negative“ or „evil“ - which in some places of the book can be kind of an explicit sense of self - transforms into a bittersweet atmosphere that holds grace and grandeur. Here I see a strong commonality with some music I love and I feel there is a similar approach entire music genres might have pursued: Maybe more than other art forms, music is sometimes met with refusal, confusion and lack of understanding when things become aestheticised, that are distasteful, obnoxious, cruel or - to stay with Baudelaire - „evil“. But behind all this stands a reality, the musician as an acute observer is witness to. Ars longa, vita brevis.

This mix, rather a sound collage, is meant to sonically illustrate the pictures Baudelaire put in my mind; sometimes a direct reflection of the texts, sometimes a associative pairing to the feelings Baudelaire's words elicit. @Zanias is a singer, performer, producer and DJ based in Berlin. She was born in Melbourne, Australia, raised in Southeast Asia, and attended university in London. She found her voice when she teamed up with Ryan Ambridge to form Linea Aspera, and later the band Keluar with Sid Lamar of Schwefelgelb. She left behind a life in archaeological academia to focus on music full time, and relocated from London to Berlin. There she co-­‐founded the body music collective ‘Fleisch’ and now runs the record label of the same name while simultaneously writing and performing her own work, which she co-­‐produces with Alex Akers of Forces.

Over the last few years she has collaborated with some of electronic music’s most respected figures, appearing on Dax J’s critically acclaimed ‘Offending Public Morality’ LP, as well as providing vocals on Black Rain’s ‘Dark Pool’ album and ‘Computer Soul’ EP (Blackest Ever Black), and working with Ancient Methods on the track ‘Andromeda’ (Candela Rising).

Her debut EP ‘To the Core’ (2016, Noiztank) featured the track ‘Follow the Body’, which between the original and its remixes by Dax J and Kobosil has since become a staple of techno dancefloors worldwide. At the end of 2018 she followed it with her debut album, ‘Into the All’ (Candela Rising), a genre-­‐defying journey of psychospiritual enlightenment formed from extensive recording and experimentation.

While her live sets are a spectacle and catharsis led by an intense vocal performance, in her DJ and hybrid sets (featuring live vocals) she expresses this emotive force in the form of evocative melodies intricately woven through industrial beats and EBM basslines, aimed to move both the body and the mind.

In 2019 she will unveil a new EP on Fleisch Records.

Faux Naif has a particular view on club music. Under her Faux Naïf alias she digs for records often outside of the electronic spectrum, often championing the lesser known sounds of EBM, Tropical Goth, Synth & Post Punk. Her broad tastes in these genres mostly stems from the 80s and typically dark in sound, she takes as much influence from British groups like The Cure, Coil and the Cocteau Twins as she does any electronic producer.
