OHM , Bjarnar Jonsson is an artist from Iceland, 
that has been living in Copenhagen for the past 20 years.
He has been releasing on many labels such as Thule records, Kontakt records, luck of Access , X/OZ music and Rawax to name a few.
Currently running his own label now called OHM Series that focuses mostly on the deep and dubby side of Techno music.

This time around we have none other than Yamaho, one of Iceland's most profilic house and techno artist. She's been delivering skillful performances for years in all types of venues and settings, bringing rock solid energy to every show.
Her knack and knowledge for the dance music scene reflects perfectly how she performs, always staying true to herself.
It was a pleasure to dive into her artistical perception in this interview, and we have the honor of receiving two sets from her, one house mix and one techno mix.

Welcome to another episode of Volume Radio, where Octal Industries joins the studio via phone from his home in Estonia.

OCTAL INDUSTRIES:
Octal Industries is the solo project of Jónas Thor Gudmundsson. The project was originally founded in 2003 by Jonas and Mike Sickinger, the founder of the Octal label. The debut release of their collaboration was the Automatik EP on the Transistor Rhythm output. Couple of years later they joined their friend Deep Chord for a shared 12“ release, which today is a quite a valuable gem for dub techno lovers. The three of them joined hands together later that year to create a 3x12“ release undir the pseudonym Spectral Network. The release was quite limited (111 copies) and was considered one of the most interesting 12“ releases that year by many critics. 
After the release of the Spectral Network eps the duo went for hiatus as other projects took over, also as opportunity for musical collaborations became harder as the Atlantic Ocean divides them. Jonas continued working on other projects as Ruxpin – producing numerous releases along the way. 
In 2011 the duo was asked by the French independent label Entropy Records to do some releases. As Michael was unable to participate, Jonas went on solo and worked on a full-length release, which later became Meeting of the Waves LP. Another remix followed for G.R.I.T. which was hailed by dubtechnoblog.com as the best remix of the year 2012.   
In more recent years, Octal Industries has been working on numerous collaborations with artists such as fellow Icelander OHM - and fruits of their work has been released on labels such as Thule Records, Rawax, Luck of Access, All In Records and many more. 
Octal Industries also released works independently in 2019 an EP entitled Julia Sets on Kontakt Records, which featured a remix from the Detroit legend Mike Huckaby – and his second full-length album Our Seasons, which was released on Vertex in December 2019. 
Octal Industries, although being Icelandic in origin, works and resides in Tallinn, Estonia.

In this episode we sat down with a seasoned DJ and producer from Iceland: Bjorn Salvador

Bjorn Salvador began dj-ing at an early age with focus mainly on Techno. After he started producing his own music in 2011 he turned all his attention to the deeper sides of House music. Bjorn and Leon S. Kemp started Nordic Voyage Recordings in 2020 and since then Bjorn has released his music on labels such as Dialtone, 3rd Avenue, Everything will be OK, Canopy Sounds, Be Adult, Personal Belongings and more. Bjorn also co-hosts two shows, Nordic Voyage on Proton Radio and Promised Land on Saturo Sounds.

Isect is an Icelandic DJ and producer who has been exploring the dystopian techno landscape of Berlin for four years.
Feeling constrained after training as a contemporary dancer, he was drawn to music as a free form expression.
First turning to producing, Isect was naturally influenced by the institutions of his adopted city, such as Griessmuehle, Tresor and Berghain. Soon after his relocation he began to experiment with production and later DJing. The sound he developed as Isect explores raw physicality, from angular industrial movements to dark, expressive moods.
DJs such as Exos and Pluggd laid the foundations in his mind as an early teen and once he began working with music, Perc, Setaoc Mass, Adam X & Bjarki were few of many who informed his thoughts and ideas on techno. Releases and a label are on course to be unveiled in the coming months.
Isect’s view of techno is unconfined. As a dancer he appreciates the individuality of the music while thriving on the communal act of drawing people together beneath a powerful beat. As a DJ and producer he aims to share these feelings through his music.

He has a wide range of influences in both production and DJing and its hard to single out any one or two artists that has had the most impact, but the style and mentality of Mr. G through his live perfomances and interviews is something he really admires. When behind the decks he plays what comes to mind in the moment and he's not shy to play what he digs and likes to take risks.

Straight from Oslo we welcome Faia!

Faia loves being behind the decks, and that also reflects the drive, energy and playfulness in her choice of music. Her favorite genres are deep tech, minimal, tech house, techno, psy tech, dark, dub, acid and hard techno, but can also play downtempo chill out and deep house sets for more easy listening. You can expect a hypnotic journey and great atmosphere when Faia is behind the mixer!

In the start of 2018 Faia got into producing as well, and started a collaboration with the Norwegian producer Duppeditt. They've released music on their new label Romklang Records and will continue their work, so keep an eye out for these two.

Born and raised in the south of Germany discovered her love for electronic music in 2011. After a couple of gigs for her friends she started her series of events ‘Owl Night Long’. Quickly established in the the nightlife, Aninas events featured several headliners such as Carlo Ruetz, Macromism and Ron Costa. After numerous events all over Germany f.e. Magdalena in Berlin, Bunker in Rostock, Zollamt in Stuttgart or Peter and Paul in Regensburg Anina is now one of the residents in Hans-Bunte Areal. Besides her success on national ground she impressed fans of electronic music with her vacant minimal sound outside of the German border. Her gigs include countries like Switzerland, France, Italy and Belgium. Furthermore, she has become a permanent part of the Sea You Festival as well as the Grenzenlos Festival and performed side by side with several headliners. At the same time Anina wanted to bring her own style into the music and released her first EP in 2013. She made it into the Top 30 Minimal Charts with only her second release, the Blow EP on Moonplay. Ever since, Anina releases her EP on known labels such as Phobos Records, Music4Aliens and Creepy Finger Records. Her Remix of the release ‘Blind’ by Clone Kent and Kallin made it onto rank 5 of the Beatport Minimal Charts. Besides her digital success, she also persuades with analogous sounds. In the summer of 2018 she released her Remix of Andrew T Dorms ‘Implant’ on Vinyl, where unique vocals meet a slice of Oldschool Minimal. She just recently made one of her dreams come true by having her first homestudio, which gives her even more space for creativity.
