EP Pablo’s Blistered Paw

Our new release is a deep and soothing organic house EP by Volzigt which also features remixes from Thommie G and Goro (NL).

Volzigt is a Dutch artist from Amsterdam who is a founding member of the city’s underground music venue Club Escargot, which is famed for being the home of Holland’s downtempo scene. His style is a fusion of ethereal synths, uplifting melodies and flowing percussion. Along with being a talented DJ, Volzigt has also released stunning tracks and remixes on labels ranging from Shango Records to his own Obscure Records, and this is his second time working with us.

On remix duty, Goro (NL) is a Dutch artist who has close ties to Volzigt through being a resident at his Obscure events. He is also a respected producer whose enchanting style fuses trippy atmospherics with rhythmic percussion that creates captivating grooves focused at the dance floor. He has previously featured on Baikal Nomads along with other record labels such as Cafe De Anatolia, MONADA and Kosa.

Thommie G is a Dutch artist living in the city of Haarlem, and he is a Baikal Nomads regular who has an entrancing style of organic house, which can also be found on other scene leading record labels such as Sol Selectas, Magician On Duty, and Camel Riders.

“Blistered Paw” is the first of the two originals and it has psychedelic guitar chords fused with spine-tingling atmospheric synths and a thickset bassline. The track has a haunting vibe with intricate sound design.

Second of the original tracks is, “Pablo's” and it’s got a chugging groove with a pulsating bassline and angelic pads that are carried forth by a plodding kick drum and shuffling hi-hats. Its mesmerising atmosphere is both epic and immersive.

Goro (NL)’s remix of Blistered Paw is a hallucinatory version which adds additional atmospherics to create a spellbinding rework. Thommie G lifts the energy with his up-tempo remix of Blistered Paw which works in extra percussion and a new bassline.

Volzigt’s musical journey began when he picked up a guitar for the first time. It was then that he discovered an unquenchable thirst for music. This initial spark led him down a rabbit hole from which he never looked back.

Influenced by his early love for hip-hop, house, and the unmistakable groove of disco, Volzigt started out playing vinyl and has navigated through a diverse array of musical landscapes. After years of experimentation and evolution, his productions and DJ sets have crystallized into a sound that is deeply melancholic, uplifting, occasionally tinged with psychedelia, and always rooted in the darker side of organic house.

As a co-owner of We Are Obscure, an event organization and record label, Volzigt plays a pivotal role in curating a broad spectrum of electronic music, with a particular focus on the more obscure and nuanced aspects of organic house. He is also one of the key figures behind the evolution of Club Escargot, an event that has been instrumental in developing the downtempo scene in Amsterdam, shaping it into a vibrant and essential part of the city’s subcultures.

Volzigt has graced the decks of major clubs in Amsterdam and Berlin, bringing his distinctive sound to some of the most renowned venues. His music has found a home on respected labels such as Baikal Nomads, Obscure Records, and trndmsk, earning him a reputation for producing tracks that are as emotionally deep as they are sonically rich.

As an artist, Volzigt continues to push the boundaries of his craft, constantly seeking new ways to blend melancholy with euphoria, creating an immersive experience that resonates long after the music has stopped.
