This was inspired by current events in the news.

Here's what I propose...

This poem was inspired by a combination of prompts, "trophy skull" & "bullet holes" from HorrorPrompt, "nimble" from DimpleVerse,  and  "river of ink" from ClassyWrite.  As a big fan of Halloween, this is part of a series of horror-inspired micropoems I'm working on.

In December, 2017, The Department of Health & Human Services sent a document to the Center for Disease Control SUGGESTING, in order to improve their chances of getting funded, SUGGESTING they avoid using certain words which might which might invoke personal prejudices in those who control the process of such fiscal decisions. And they explained this was not a ban on these words, just simply… strong encouragement to find more politically correct verbiage, so as to not trigger any sensitive legislators…

And they don’t consider this to be censorship in any way.

That story inspired this piece.

Before you and your sweat pants, the Hedgehog got to bang her
Before Dripping Wet Sex 4, Trailer Trash Nurses 6 was better.
All she did was pray the Donald was gonna let her
Be on his reality game show

because No One just doesn't listen

a No One squatted
next to some trees
feminist panties
around her knees
an overgrown bush
a trickling stream
and me, a leaf
too high to scream

pulling up 
her new-to-you slacks
it was then I noticed
the blade of her ax
her alarm-clock voice
annoyingly sounding...
...that's when I felt
something like pounding

weak 
with inexperience
her tiny blade 
lacked common sense
and in giving up
as she's prone to do
she went with the plan
that was number 2

a No One from No Where
started flicking her Bic
'til her chemical smoke
made everyone sick
but soon, overhead
there's the sound of planes
with magical powers 
to bring the rains

but, the branches I clung to 
started to bend
burned with her selfies
of disposable friends
for despite the forest
to which I'm bound
I was felled by No One
who scrolled past the sound

eventually, again,
the birds will twitter
and No One for No Reason
will lie there, bitter
and fiction will be made
from the stories of this
as No One claims 
that I don't exist


I guess, apparently
she's never heard
about a leaf that turned
into the written word
or how pencils are made
from the trees in the wood
lead by their nature
to give it to her good

Created as part of the 4th annual Poeming challenge (in my first time participating), this piece is comprised of the first 7 Found Haiku I posted as shahai on tumblr.  For 2019, The Poeming challenges participants to post one found poem a day from the collected works of Christopher Pike for the entire month of October. The book chosen for me was his 1988 young-adult mystery, The Dance.  This spoken word recording represents week 1.
