"Making music is just as important as DJing to me… I love making beats, playing melodies, creating grooves and researching music. I like combining the old with the new, I also love listening to old-school hip hop, disco and RnB which were a big part of my life when growing up. 

I create some edits for my sets or tracks that I know I won’t release but I still would like to play. I like to browse web in search for unique acapellas and I like to process them and mix with the contemporary music.

In times where a lot of people play top 10 Beatport, Juno or any other place to buy music, charts… it’s hard to stay original. So that’s me trying to bring something special to my sets. This track is highly inspired by some of the Robert Hood’s early work, especially his Floorplan tracks… The original vocal is part of a Surface’s track which was released in 1984 on New York’s disco label Salsoul. I reworked it and put it over a techno track that I was working on, giving it a  different vibe and feeling… bringing the old with the new, VONDA7 time machine. "

@made-of-concrete kickstart 2020 with a long-awaited release from Alek S, one year after his latest EP. He’s joined by Sascha @rydell, one of his favourite artists, taking on remix duties.

Deep and dubby, immersive and dance-inducing - these coordinates can always be found in Alek S productions and this release makes no exception. 'Far Outside' introduces the deep atmospherics, with its metallic elements and slow burning melody, while 'Sweatbox' creates an entrancing mood with its timbered percussion and pulsating lead. 'Ostkreuz' stands for the dubby, restrained piece, with tempered percussion and bassline that give a womb-like feeling. Sascha Rydell’s rework of 'Sweatbox' rounds up the release in a dynamic manner, with a full-force techno heavy hitter.

Mathias Kaden returns to Rekids with four-track EP ‘Control Your Mind’, featuring a remix from Marcel Dettmann.

Previously appearing on Rekids in 2019 with his ‘Liberate Drums’ EP, Mathias Kaden makes his second appearance on Radio Slave aka Matt Edwards’ label with four original tracks of razor sharp material, as well as a remix from Berghain resident Dettmann.

‘Control Your Mind’ opens with the impeccably produced title track, an electro flecked roller. Featuring hypnotic synth work and subtle automated inflections, the cut effortlessly glides, peppered with the occasional titular vocal refrain from Sven Väth puncturing the groove. Shifting into 4/4 territory is ‘Conviction’, a restrained but stunningly effective track that makes full use of memorable off-beat synth stabs and shimmering 909 percussion to constantly drive the track forward.

On the flip, Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann turns up the heat with his remix of ‘Control Your Mind’. Filtering the vocals, the MDR and BAD MANNERS boss also delivers a resonant bassline that works in tandem with knocking percussion, as creeping pads morph and evolve over the duration of the track, creating a trippy and propulsive banger.

Classic dub techno aesthetics are front and centre in ‘Substance’, a track destined for the golden hours between late at night and early in the morning, while finishing the package in fine style, the digital only ‘Anticipation’ showcases Kaden’s skill in crafting a killer peak time track, adding a welcome bonus of yet another weapon for USBs worldwide.
