Starting in the early 90s, producers like Ilsa Gold, Space Navigator, Clemens Neufeld, Patrick Pulsinger, 999%, Thuna Khan and many more already took the sound from the alp republic to the world, and this continued over the years with Christopher Just,  Mike Vinyl, Felipe and Nicolas Bacher, Boriqua Tribez, Eric Fischer, Dave Slide, Crazy Sonic to just come to where we are now. Great new talents conquering the World, on top of them Florian Meindl, Niereich, Sutter Cane, A-Brothers, Florian Kaltstrøm and also not to forget Patrick Kunkel and Dave Tarrida, who settled in Austria.

LENSKE’s first release by Farrago, “Risin”, comes packing high velocity punches, including a collaboration with Amelie Lens and a remix from Kobosil. The EP’s A side is packed near 12 minutes of crisp machine driven techno with Farrago’s rattling peak-time “The Riddler” being the first to puncture. The title track, “Risin”, will only be released as the Kobosil remix, a titanium tour of auditory horrors, which also borrows from the EP’s other tracks. Lens’ signature sultry vocal samples on the B side’s “Jealousy” draw the contours of a jaw grinding banger, while “Hidden Power” rounds out the release with a blaring dance floor siren encased in exquisitely unpredictable arrangement. Next, on ICONYC we have the remix edition of TH;EN & Starkato’s ‘Tease’featuring 2 monumental remixes from D-Formation & Li-Polymer. Hailing from TH;EN and Starkato have been regulars on some of the world’s finest labels with their progressive and melodic techno influenced driving productions. For the remix edition of their classic smash ‘Tease’, we welcome Beatfreak head honcho and all-around good guy D-Formation and label favorite Li-Polymer. 'Both remixes feature rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody progressive house vibes to satisfy ambient, uplifting and feel-good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release.

First up we have D-Formation who needs no introduction. The Beatfreak label boss’s maturity and musical development are in full swing, as he kicks off proceedings with a deep, hypnotic beat which is interspersed with subtle effective percussion a profound floaty grooves and indie influences, turning this one into an underground anthem with a very soul tangling appeal. Utilizing a hypnotizing groove as the basis of the remix underpinned by a staccatoed bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect.

Next up we welcome back Li-Polymer who a few weeks back featured on the label with his wonderful ‘How They Shine’. Li-Polymer delivers another gem with is deep rework. His remix is interspersing with roomy glowing love, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. Li-Polymer manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser. Essential stuff from Li-Polymer.

The remix edition of ‘Tease’ really shows that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful deep melodic release will leave you with many smiles induced moments! Not to be missed. TH;EN & Starkato’s ‘Tease’ sees a worldwide release on December 10th, 2018.

Twin Turbo continues its mission to fill floors and please crowds with zero regard for human cost. On this EP, label newcomer @madamedj takes archetypal techno sounds - so often rendered with the dirt-dull gravitas of a baseball documentary - and makes them sound fun and/or alive. And if you’re music, those are both great things to be. 

“Falling Phase” samples a 1964 piece by electronic pioneer Delia Derbyshire, with the main track built around the feelings it conjured in the young French producer, who was perhaps also reflecting on his recent string of standout releases for BNR, and where they might be mentioned in the eventual promotional copy. 

Meanwhile, “Vela Pulsar” samples a NASA recording of a neutron star producing magnetic fields one trillion times stronger than Earth’s. We are almost certain we can get grant money because of this.

Also meanwhile, Madame describes “Booth Echo” as his attempt at “Business Techno.” Judged on those terms, it’s an unqualified success.

Finally, “Acquiesce The Front” isn’t just great advice. It’s a broken-beat collaboration with Deapmash, also known as half of AQXDM,  whose records have reportedly been “rinsed” by Aphex Twin at recent gigs. And that, friends, is a three-degrees-removed namedrop and testament to the undying persistence of the human spirit.

Berlin-based Irish artist Hybrasil delivers a high-grade debut album on Radio Slave’s Rekids. Since moving to Berlin Hybrasil has been an avid buyer of records at Hardwax, going to modular workshops at the cult Schneidersladen, attending Superbooth and Berlin Atonal, Panorama Bar and Berghain, whilst releasing his big, arresting techno sounds on his own eponymous label. Alongside this he’s been spending time in the studio with Radio Slave, who played Hybrasil's ‘Hathor’ in Panorama Bar which kicked off a three-month burst of creativity that led to this album. As such, the album is very much a product of the artist's time in Berlin and was written for the Panorama Bar and Berghain sound system and all who attend its dance halls.

The album takes off with the smooth rolling techno of'Hathor'; that gets you on your toes, while 'Come Back'; soon ups the ante thanks to the way Hybrasil twists and turns his synths above the rooted kick drums. 'Ceres'; then has edgy sustained chords and thunderous claps that will sound mega in a cavernous warehouse space.

'Orpeheus'; is a masterclass in economical but effective techno, with well-crafted hi hats, rolling kicks and vocal stabs all driving it forward. 'Ursa Minor'; traps the listener in unresolved loops that keep a locked groove, until 'Messier'; mixes up seriously weighty bass-drum thuds and Jeff Mills style melodic minimalism. The compelling LP completes with 'Igigi'; and 'Vela', two more astral techno rollers with celestial synths and devastating drum programming.
