Famous Firewarden's Duel for two pianos recorded at the Makhiarov concert hall in Sestossa, Akendia  on the planet El-Nóvan-kî  in year NE2541 (Earth  1976). The twelve tone equal temperament piano is played by Zørìn Fłorîs whilst the serpent (7:5) instrument is played by Arla Hearne. The warding thera which mediates, is played by the Cordolian, Dørba-yú.

Chesil Beach is one of the most remarkable land/seascapes in the British Isles. It is an 18 mile pebble bank situated on the Jurassic Coast on the South Coast of England with an enclosed, tidal lagoon behind it. The bank is 15 metres high, and is composed entirely of pebbles of remarkably uniform size and bewildering colour variety.

The pebble bank provides natural reflections, and shield the sea front from any noise from inland.  This recording was made on a calm day in the Autumn of 2014, when the beach was almost empty.

Countless Bees - Knott Hil, Lyme Park
This sound walk takes place at Knott Hill in Lyme Park, Cheshire, England. The Eastern side of the wooded valley was once entirely covered in rhododendrons, but the National Trust have endeavoured, over the last few years, to return this environment to native planting. Still, a good deal of rhododendron coverage remains at the Southern end, and every year in early June countless numbers of large bumble bees congregate around the flowers. Rhododendron pollen is too toxic for most native insects, but bumble bees just love it. It provides a plentiful energy source early in the season which gives rise to this quite astonishing sound and visual phenomenon. Over a four hour recording session I endeavoured to immerse myself within the bees. We begin in the peaceful, resonant valley floor (birds, water) and gradually move through the rhododendrons as we climb the hill, capturing detail of individual bees, against the startling backdrop of the  surrounding throng. We finish at the top of Knott hill next to Paddock Cottage (birds, sheep, leaf-tree breeze).

2022: I returned to Knott Hill for the first time this June, since lockdown in the UK, to find that the rhododendrons and the countless bees are no more. The return to native woodland is very impressive and largely complete. I cannot but help feel a little sad that this amazing phenomenon no longer exists.
