After Gilb'R's remix of J.A.K.A.M. a few months ago, we're delighted to premiere another track off their latest release : an EP by The Kloom, a new all-star project born in Dusseldorf through members of Autarkic, Naduve, Stabil Elite and more. Needless to say, impressive cast. The Die Wilde Jagd remix was our choice of the day, a slow motion groover topped with analog waves and haunting delayed vocals. Out this month so don't sleep !

Described by Crack Magazine as a “hypnotic slow-burner” and noted by Ransom Note as one of the most interesting albums to emerge in 2017, not only did Dollkraut’s second album ‘Holy Ghost People’ herald the launch of Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani’s adventurous new label with fitting mystic gusto… It also gave us a beguiling LP that keeps on giving, exciting and inspiring over a year later.

Proof can be found in these three superlative remixes. Subversive Berlin duo OTTO take the lead with a warm, Arabic twist on the album opener ‘Bonnie Says’ by lifting the groove with a little organ-squeezing spring while maintain its faraway haze and mystique. Accurately hyped Romanian-also-in-Berlin Borusiade follows with an overwhelming floor-ready update on ‘Have I Told You’. Already a familiar face with the label, she weaves a chasm-like new-wave narrative that sucks you deep into the mix and galvanises the pundit attention she’s getting right now. Finally Mannequin Records founder Alessandro Adriani joins the party with a tunnelling twist on the somnambulant aesthetic of ‘Valium’. Dollkraut - Have I Told You (Borusiade Remix)

Λένα Πλάτωνος (Lena Platonos) is a Greek musician, pianist and music composer. Her third solo album, ‘Lepidoptera’ was produced in 1986 and reissued by Dark Entries in 2018. Inspired by a scientific book on butterflies she found in a trashcan one day, the compositions follow minimalistic motifs and carefully-staged soundscapes. Lena narrates each song in deadpan fashion, skillfully reciting her surreal Greek poetry.
We’ve recruited 4 contemporary Greek producers to remix their favorite tracks from ‘Lepidoptera’. First up is “Cyaniris” remixed by Anatolian Weapons who delivers an enchanted late-night journey through the New Wave forest. Next is “Araschnia Levana” remixed by Pasiphae who speeds up the pace with machine driven melodic electro pulses. On the B-side we have June remixing “Cyaniris” twirling the track into a complex deep sea dive with lush drum kicks and pads. Closing out the EP is a remix of “Τα Γενέθλια Ή Aporia Maturna” by Morah who leads us to the underworld of Hades via sinister squelches and full-on apocalyptic rave breakdown. All songs have been mastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is a reinterpretation of the original ‘Lepidoptera’ cover, isolating the illustration of the butterfly/woman designed by Eloise Leigh.
