The first in a series of tracks inspired by the fantastic Old Kingdom works by Garth Nix. This piece is a moodscape for The Wall that marks the meeting of The Old Kingdom and Ancelstierre; there's a theme here for the Kingdom, the Wind Flutes/Abhorsen and the Dead/Free Magic. This is more from the Ancelstierre side, so it reflects the Kingdom's impingement on it's soil, and doesn't reference the theme I'm developing for Ancelstierre. The Wyverly College theme will likely be its first appearance.

The Crossing Point

When I first read Lirael, I loved the concept of the Clayr's Library. A quiet place, yet one with such potential dangers lurking barely seen. Almost like a forest all to itself, and indeed containing a partly forested room, I tried to capture the just contained energy of this place. There's a theme for the Clayr overall here, as well as Lirael's theme. The Stilken is tangentially represented by the presence of the Dead/Free Magic motif, however I am considering a more developed piece for this, given how important an event it is. The Dog, of course, will get her own piece. I think she'd be most put out if she didn't.
