‘Ukie’ is the first solo work that Vlad has composed since the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine.

This experimental electronic track embodies a mix of emotions and feelings of a person who experience the war. Ukie has many nuances, and the vibe varies from fear to humility, from devastation to hope.

Still, the composition hasn’t a specific main idea. This track reflects a state of mind and soul and doesn’t give any result or solution.

Ukie

The track raises the eternal question of the immortality of the human soul. How much do we impact people's lives? Do we have a chance to remain in their memory and continue our journey after death? Should it occur naturally, or should we do it on purpose? And in the end, is it even worth it?

The lyrics are dedicated to relatives of the band members who have passed away but left a profound mark on many lives.

Залишити душу / Leave The Soul (In One's Heart)

«Patience» is the second single from the upcoming album.

This track is about feeling down and like the entire world is against you. And the fear that there's no way you can get through and get your life together. So it's about the frustration, the desolation, the helplessness.

However, this track is also about inner strength, an idea, a person that helps keep moving. Breath by breath, minute by minute, and day by day. It takes lots of patience, but eventually, it all passes.

«Patience» follows the style of the band's previous single, «Залишити душу» / «Leave the soul (in one's heart)». It has a mix of post-rock melodiousness, chill beats, and elaborative arrangement with indie vibes. 

This track and the upcoming album didn't develop post-rock/shoegaze style as in the previous band's releases. The team sees it as natural growth and evolution, as they keep their spirit in the music.

Patience

About client

monobank is a product of cooperation of Universal Bank and the Fintech Band team. monobank is a progressive personal banking tool.

Task

It was needed to create system sounds for the best banking application in Ukraine. We had to design notification sounds that would further add recognition to monobank and make it even more outstanding. And of course they should reflect the general spirit and be easy to like.

Decision

We decided to start with the existing character of the app – the QR cat. It gave a lot of space for ideas.

It was clear that exclusively organic sounds were needed  – the human brain is more susceptible to this kind of sounds. Such choice fit just right into the overall concept of a user-friendly interface.

We conducted a series of experiments with the meows and rumblings of a real cat, added to them various sound effects such as a cash register and wooden percussion instruments. We pursued the main goal – to make the notification sounds functional and cozy at the same time.

Result

In the first iteration of monobank audio branding creating , we developed 5 sounds:

- refill
- withdrawal
- info-notification from the bank
- choice of cashback
- standard notification

monobank — App Notifications

PlayUA is a modern Ukrainian entertainment internet edition. They write about games, film industry, comics, technologies, and pop culture in general. Main formats are reviews, analytical articles, author columns, interviews, and reports from the most interesting thematic events.

Just at one of these events, Vlad has met the guys and even given them a short interview. Later, behind the scenes, they talked about the fact that the YouTube channel of the edition lacked an audio identity. So everything turned into cooperation.

Sound concept
Vlad started his work on the project with an image track. It was evident that its sound should reflect the activities of PlayUA and, in general, enhance the brand image. Also, the track was supposed to suit the target audience of the edition.

Almost immediately, Vlad combined several music genres: rock, electronic, orchestral music, and Ukrainian ethnic music. He made the track at a fast pace, very energetic — to emphasize the young age of the target audience.

By the way, precisely because of the musical preferences of the target audience, electronic and even dance sounding became the basis of the entire arrangement. Live, electric rock guitars added the necessary energy to the track.

Sounds of bandura and reed pipe refer to the fact that the brand is genuinely Ukrainian. The elements of the symphony orchestra are a tribute to the cult orchestral soundtracks from the game and cinema industry.

Challenge
The very idea of ​​combining a diverse audience of the edition and the search for the «highlight» that unites them all was the main challenge of the project.

Spider-Man was my favorite hero as long as I remember myself.
I watched all the cartoons, collected all the comics and was beyond happy with the release of every film. I had a variety of Spider-Man toys and, well, I wanted to become him.
I still remember the excitement from the first computer games and the opportunity to be "in the shoes" of my favorite hero.

I grew up. I haven’t become a Spider-Man, but I’ve become a composer-man. And by this track I want to say "thank you" not just to Spider-Man for my childhood and dreams, but to all people who worked on this character. And also by this medley I express my respect to other composers who help this story to sound this cool.
