The Profondo EP is without doubt a technical effort where Simstah showcases his craftmanship throughout the opening cut Profondo by skillfully building a soothing tension that maintains it's charachter by the use of several subtle transformations. Camouflage is the roaring bit. The dark theme of the cut alligned by otherwordly pads and thumping yet playful drum sounds make for an exalted slice of Drum & Bass that's perfect for the more adventurous club situations. Last but not least Take Me Back smooths things out with its cinematic tones and hazy piano riffs.

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, a few years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Next up on Four Corners Music, the new drum & bass label headed up by Melinki, is a 4 track sampler for Embers of Lights upcoming LP “Caught In A Deep Thought”. The release marks Embers Of Light (also known as Basic Forces) debut on the label and the sampler serves to showcase a sublime taster of what’s to come with the LP.

‘Give It 2 Me’ starts the release on a soulful vibe, perfectly representing the liquid corner of the four corners of Drum & Bass. ‘Last Breath’ takes a slightly darker turn with a brooding piano laced first section, watch the second drop on this one. ‘Time Away’ is a deeper cut that rolls out beautifully on a sophisticated tip. Finally ‘Chillwave’ seals the release with a very weighty bassline in tow, one for the heads that like it low.
