Arriving at a time when James was primarily producing Trance and Acid under his Influx or Cybertrax aliases on Rising High Records, these compositions came to life when James felt most vulnerable and his style most malleable. Hanging at the time with forming New-York Rave crew (Frankie Bones, DJ Micro, Caffeine, Adam X...), his early demo tapes ended up in the hands of Lenny Dee (Industrial Strengh), they eventually found their way to Caspar's right hand man Pypee, running Sapho (Rising High sublabel). In 1993, James' alias and most punchy music was released as Influx. This record incl. selected tracks from the album 'Unique' (1994) alonside '2001', part of his 1st EP 'Od'. To make a clear link between all different explorations, adding one track from his 1st album as James Bernard was obvious, and that's why 'Lost In It' became part of this 12". This is a longly awaited (re)apparition for that track, as 'Atmospherics' elevated with time, to the range of 'cult' album in ambient/electronica fields. This record has the aim to cultivate our taste for atmospherical elements, freezing up the thermostat in order to temperate your environment; inviting your mind to a lunar state where dreamy and danceable aspects could come disturb your occasional nocturnal ballads. This 4 track ep is just the audio bounce versions from the same audiovisual compositions. The tracks were created as a sound design for each visual piece and arranged and recorded in realtime meanwhile visuals were captured, so each take is a unique captured track.

'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

Therefore, donations stemming from the sales of this release will be distributed to the following humanitarian groups currently active in Ukraine or neighboring countries welcoming refugees:

This illustration is an homage to Maria Prymachenko’s “May That Nuclear War be Cursed!”, which also inspired the title of this release. Sophie du Palais,  also known as Vrouwe Fataal, is a German vocalist and recording artist from Amsterdam. Sophie du Palais’ sound mixes elements of sinister and commanding vocals – reminiscent of Miss Kittin’ – to create an infectious vortex of panic.

After a night of experimenting in a studio and uploading her their first track on Soundcloud, Pinkman Records stumbled upon the profile. She released twice on the Rotterdam label, which is known for having a third ear out for the very finest sounds of tomorrow.

Sophie du Palais’ and Identified Patient’s haughty, somewhat punky track  ‘Crush On You’ caught fire with the burgeoning international crowd and her stony vocals similarly lined up with their Dekmantel release “The drip” a year later. 

A series of early productions on various artists compilations were scattered throughout 2020.

While dance floors were going wild from Sao Paolo to Moscow, Du Palais was finalizing her debut EP. This collection of clubby productions with new wave sensibilities will be released on BFE Records in Summer 2021.
