Crisis, you are chained to the asphalt, your body shell has merged with the car hood - they co-exist. The road has given you the speed, it has peeled all your bones. You were constantly addicted to the feeling of adrenaline. This accident was decisive, but you did not understand anything. Aged primitive melodies play in your head. Whether you are already coming to the world at the end of the tunnel or having partial amnesia, anyway, you are having joy. The pain is absent for some reason, but there is an unpleasant feeling in the heart. It is either the catheter or your conscience.

You feel the cold still circulating in your body, you are being given an emergency blood transfusion. It reminds you of first love. The final stop will be warm. You feel a tingling sensation in your fingertips. You remember the morning with a clear sea and a deserted beach. Here we are. Closer to warm weather in your blood. Keep going - it is your agenda now.

Paita is a project of musician and sound producer Kolya Dolgov, currently living in Moscow.

In 2021 the album "What is not" was released, which became the starting point in the formation of the young artist's style and sound.
Experiments with dub and ambient, explorations of "raw" electronics and new-age, participation in punk bands as a bass-guitarist, moves, travelling, meetings and breakups, love and hate. The line of changes through which both the musician and his lyrical hero passes stretches to the new release "Southern Man".

"Southern Man" is an album-metamorphosis, it is a story or better to say a notebook, about the changes that a young guy goes through. Accustomed to seeing the emptiness of the horizon, he is met with monolithic granite structures, and instead of the great water of the sea, there is now a river winding subtly in channels. 'It's what's inside, but you can listen to it' says Пайта (Paita).

The album features collaborations with label residents FMSAO, Shoom Berez, X.Y.R. , NWIII, as well as guest artists 8luetic and Молох. Here you can hear gentle pop ambient, uncomplicated balearic house, juke and dub.

EPISODE VII ‘DISSONANCE’

- I walk through the streets of this vast metropolis, losing myself in its many
sounds. Street after street, the buildings, like enormous guardian demons
clad in multi-coloured screens, watch my every step, our every step. This
crossing I’m about to take is filled with hundreds upon hundreds of people at
every moment of the day, and I move in unison with them, creating a single
harmony. Right, left, a glance at my mobile, I keep going.

- But this time, I notice a shadow, just beside the traffic light pole on the
opposite side. It moves in sharp, jerky motions, out of sync—right, left—a
fraction of a second too soon, or too late. It catches my attention. A second
ago it was blurred, now ultra-clear—a regular woman, dark hair, grey clothes;
she could be me on a dreary November afternoon, leaving work. And yet, her
unsynchronised movements and unstable form hold my gaze. As I stare, she
lifts her eyes and locks onto mine. Hypnotised, I stop on the zebra crossing,
while the human river flows around her. Moving slowly but still in those
irregular jerks, the woman comes closer. Nearer and nearer, a feeling of
unease fills me, yet I cannot take a step forward. Now she’s here, right in front
of me. Her pupils fixed on mine vibrate almost imperceptibly at an intense
frequency, yet with no order. Suddenly, she seizes my hand. “Dissonate.” I
blink, and she’s gone.

- The light is about to turn red, and the last pedestrians are hurrying across. I
hurry too, but feel both heavy and weightless. The world flows around me,
and I am out of step. People extend their strides in slow-motion steps, yet
somehow impossibly fast. I feel as if every movement of mine is submerged
in water with opposing currents. The sound of the traffic light becomes
piercing, then low; the sky brightens, then dims, as if its exposure control has
gone mad. I can no longer tune myself to any rhythm. Days pass both quickly
and slowly, leaving deep yet faint marks I can no longer decipher. And
yet—do I want, or not want, to resonate with it?

The first and unmixed iteration of my track from the upcoming cassette, which will be released on December 13 both physically and on streaming platforms. Before this album was finally finished, I spent 9 months in prison, and it could never have happened without that experience. Let’s hope I won’t end up there again.
