Rajok (Raj) is a folklore fantasy character represented in autumn reaping days’ songs. Our forefathers or «dziady» believed, that Rajok is a creature that could talk to croppers, ask the way, and sometimes come into the yard. The visits of such a being were supposed to cause greater happiness. Rajok takes care of cereals, helps to stay healthy and live in prosperity throughout the year.

Rajok is also associated with a bee swarm, but mostly the word is used as a derivative from Raj that means 'paradise'. It also denotes the Sacred World Tree.

Этна-гурт Vuraj прэзентуе на сваю новую працу з таямнічай і прывабнай назвай “Шэсць загадок”. Гэта міні-альбом, у які ўвайшлі усяго тры кампазіцыі – “Шэсць загадок”, “Гаю” і “Шчодры вэчор”. І ўсе не менш містычныя, чым назва кружэлкі.
Альбом атрымаўся хоць і кампактым, але адразу з двумя цікавымі асаблівасцямі. Першая палягае у тым, што побач з трыма студыйнымі кампазіцыямі Vuraj упершыню змесціў на кружэлцы першакрыніцы – аўтэнтычныя спевы бабуль з Заходняга Палесся. Яны натхнілі музыкаў на стварэнне альбому і яны ж леглі ў аснову аўтарскіх трэкаў.
“Кожная песня для нас што цэлы Сусвет са сваей атмасферай, гісторыяй і сакральным кодам. Ты стараешся яе зразумець, адчуць і, як вынік, пераасэнсаваць,” – кажа фронтмэнт гурта Сяржук Доўгушаў.
Другая асаблівасць тычыцца ўжо саунду гурта, які змяніўся ў станоўчы бок з прыходам у калектыў таленавітага баяніста Аляксандра Ясінскага. І па словах Сяржука, з новым баяністам Vuraj ступіў на новы этап развіцця.

Vuraj folk band presents their new work with the aptly enigmatic and intriguing title "Six Riddles". This EP includes only three songs - "Šeść zahadok" ("Six riddles"), "Haju" ("Oakwood") and "Ščodry viečor" ("Night of plenty"), but all of them share the mystical mood of the CD.

Two things are particularly notable about this mini album, short as it may be. For the first time Vuraj releases the studio versions along with the originals performed by old women of West Palessie. The very original songs that inspired the musicians to bring forth this album and that lie in the core of its material.

"Every song is a universe to us - one with the atmosphere, history and sacral code of its own. You try to understand it, you try to feel it and, eventually, reimagine it", says the band's frontman Siarzhuk Douhushau.

The other thing special about the release is the sound of the band, enriched with the accordion of the talented Aliaksandr Yasinsky. With him joining the band, Siarzhuk comments, begins a new chapter of Vuraj's story and evolution.

«What are you singing?» – «Summer!» 
Just like this, with one word, people in Palessie describe a whole cycle of seasonal ritual songs that reflect the customs and beliefs of our nation. 

The album is based on folk songs recorded during 4 years of expeditions to different regions of Palessie. The collected tunes were given new instrumental arrangements but retained the authentic melodies and microlanguages of their native regions.

«Vuraj» («Вурай») is a belarusian musical ethnic folk band.

 The band was founded in 2010 and has so far released three albums and one EP: «Vuraj» (2010), «Songs, Fairy tales and Dances» (2011), «Rajok» (2014), «Šeść zahadok» (EP, 2015) and «Lito»
 Vuraj uses purely authentic song material which allows to create absolutely new music compositions of peculiar sounding.

Since that time it has achieved popularity in Belarus and other neighbor countries. Also Vuraj has taken part in many music festivals in Belarus, Ukraine, Russian and Poland.
