This is one of three "An Ending" replacements for Monster Mix. Under most typical circumstances, since Chara cannot be killed with exception of doing a merciless run all the way through Waterfall, they will be handling the neutral ending phone calls.
This is the song for that exception, and instead it is Asriel who is handling the phone call.

This is where I would go into more details about what endings there are. Beyond the two that get their own song, I haven't actually figured that out yet. I've tried, but coming up with neutral endings is really hard!

Oh! I should probably also mention that -- very fittingly -- these are the last songs I can fit on this account! The once beautiful, snowy forest of Snowdin has now made way for a giant, bustling, high-tech city. Since the tragic passing of Alphys and Undyne, some of Alphys' old plans were dug up, and a group of monsters decided to take it upon themselves to honor her by helping her plans come true. This song functions moreso as Snowdin's "Quiet Water" replacement as opposed to specifically a Snowdin Town replacement, both in the interest of having more variation as well as just to accentuate the differences in some parts of the city.

Complete sidenote, whenever relevant, thumbnails will also feature character designs now! The old thumbnails will slowly be updated as well, but my priority for the time being is going to be the ones that are being actively uploaded.

Asriel takes the role of Alphys, and Flowey takes the role of Mettaton. Flowey -- who has previously revealed himself to be the late King of the Underground reincarnated -- is still convinced that the reincarnation of his wife is out there somewhere.

On Alphys' request, Flowey was asked to make sure Asriel would never go into the true lab -- Alphys' underground research facility, where she created Flowey, as well as where her experiments led to the Amalgamates taking the forms they do now. But with Asriel knowing his secret, he had to know. He had to find out what else Alphys was hiding in there.

With the rising tension between his parents, Asriel used to run off to Undyne's serene Sanctuary. After meeting the previous human and later on hearing about what they'd tried to do to Undyne, Asriel realized they could've very well been attacked as well. Ever since, the two would train with each other to both get a bit stronger. In her time at the sanctuary, Undyne didn't have much time to work on her combat skills, and Asriel was pretty new to it too since his parents were pretty lax on the whole humans thing, especially considering their adoptive child was a celebrity.

Asriel's been pretty stressed out the past few years with his parents refusing to even really properly acknowledge the problems they're facing in their marriage, affecting Asriel's mood too. Even now that he's moved out, he still frequents the Sanctuary for training and some peace of mind, especially given some particular mishaps with his gardening hobby, and seeing a new human in what was supposed to be a peaceful sanctuary is NOT helping him chill out.

Meet Flowey, Tilly and Dandy. Flowey the Flower (don't ask him what kind, he doesn't even know), Tilly the Tulip (they were certainly the most original of the bunch with their naming abilities) and Dandy the Dandelion (she's kind of a mess right now).

You walk outside. Birds are singing. Flowers are blooming. It's just as you remember. People are outside. People have been looking. "There you are," they say. "Where have you been? We've been worried sick?"

You break down.

You cry.

You lie.

You tell lies about the monsters. The horrible things they never did to you. That you had to fight back. You tell them there's still monsters left, but you were brave and fought back. 
You tell them the truth, too. You tell them they killed your friends. You tell them they died by the hands of the monsters. You tell them you went looking for them, only to discover this.

Some people rush into the mountain through the newly unblocked opening, looking to find whoever's responsible for all of this. All the while you continue to cry and make people feel sorry for you when in reality you're the one they should be fearing right now.

There's been some valid concerns and criticisms on yesterday's track, particularly in regards to how overpowered Sans and Chara might be and especially how this would affect the later battles, making them a bit more anticlimactic in comparison.

This is absolutely correct! At least in their current form, NIGHTMARE and PAYBACK's respective contexts are a bit underwhelming. These songs were made at a time when I didn't even know if I'd be continuing with Monster Mix beyond the silly little songs I made at the the very beginning. If I'd known I'd be making more, I probably wouldn't've made those yet in the first place. It's why things like Flowey's characterization were eventually addressed, or contexts were changed or sprites were updated. A lot of the early stuff was done without the forethought the rest of the AU got. A lot of it was addressed, but not everything got that luxury yet.

Their new contexts *will* eventually be revealed, but given my plans for Monster Mix, I'm not sure I'm ready to yet. (Actually, I KNOW I'm not ready yet. I haven't even FIGURED OUT their new contexts!)
The general ideas should stay the same. You'll still fight the same people during the merciless route that I've revealed. It's just that the exact circumstances revolving these fights might drastically change by the time I'm ready to reveal things.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention as it has been very helpful towards thinking about what the rest of this route might look like. Your input is appreciated and while I realize I won't please everyone, I hope I can make the appropriate adjustments to things that still maintains what I'm going for while also just making enough sense in the story.
