The 29th vurt podcast features a DJ set by Feral, a deep techno specialist from Rome, Italy. As one of the earliest members of Hypnus Records, Feral, who is considered to have essentially embody the spirit of deep techno, is taking a step further with his new vision, recently founded his label Aube Rouge.

Marked by his awakened sensibility to depth, Feral consistently carries a thread of spirituality throughout his work.  He has inherently embodied the spirit of deep techno, of which defines Hypnus Records, through his passion for audio engineering, hardware experimentation and fascination for percussive instruments.  Feral’s affinity for the shamanic calls of the tribal drum have led him across the world to discover and nurture his defining sound. Finding comfort in the solitude of his studio, Feral’s visions emerge in the crepusular hours of his native city, Rome.  With a heightened sense of spatial awareness, the sounds of Feral unearth the path of his multidimensional world, transporting the listener to a haunting, yet grounding refuge within.

The 41st episode of the vurt Podcast features an hour-long set from DJ YAZI, one of the leading DJs in the Japanese techno scene. He has been active since the mid-1990s, as a member of Tokyo’s notoriously avant-garde hip-hop group called Think Tank, DJ YAZI draws inspiration from across the musical spectrum: the mentality of hip-hop, the intensity of dub and jazz, the ferocity of techno and the euphoria of house. As a DJ he moves fluidly across styles, with his sets connected by a strong focus on deep and tripped-out grooves. The 51st episode of vurt podcast features a 70-minute live-recording DJ set from DJ Sodeyama, a key DJ/producer in the Tokyo electronic scene from the 90s to the present. The set was recorded last October at Club Womb in Tokyo.

"Sodeyama's artisanal approach to the decks and meticulously crafted sets explain why he has long been a unique force in the Japanese club scene. Sodeyama has been one of Japan's top techno DJs for the past two decades, with numerous releases on important electronic labels around the world, such as Arpa Records, Moph Record, трип, Dynamic Reflection, Konstrukt, illegal alien, and more. 2023년을 마무리하는 56번째 vurt podcast는 네덜란드를 중심으로 활동중인 프랑스 출신의 디제이/프로듀서 Laura BCR과 함께합니다. On Board Music을 이끌며 유럽을 무대로 활발하게 활동하고 있는 Laura BCR의 2시간 세트는 지난 11월에 Badaboum 파리에서 열린 파티에서 녹음되었습니다. 

"Last November, I’ve had the chance to play a closing set right after Paramida and Alex Kassian on a Thursday night at Badaboum in Paris for Cahiers Electroniques. The night not being Techno oriented, I tried to respect the progression of the running order on building a groovy set, full of percussions and quite dub focused. It turned out super energetic and people were transported by the storytelling - it’s a very good memory that I wanted to share with Vurt as I’m playing at the venue in Seoul on January 6.

It’s a pure best of 2023 what I have been playing this year with some classic tunes that come time to time in my sets from Ruhig to Tin Man (both timeless), Luigi Tozzi, Dorisburg, DJ Sodeyama, Justin Cudmore, Ectomorph or Ben Buitendjik. Laura BCR takes her name from the much-loved and now closed, Berlin record store, Bass Cadet Records, where she spent a couple of years behind the counter. These days, Laura is best known for her transportive, deep techno and dubby ambient DJ sets and for managing On Board Music label, agency & party organization. She has released music on SoHaSo, live at Robert Johnson, On Board, Auxiliary, Semantica and her latest EP has been out on Konstrukt a few weeks ago.

Bassiani/Horoom의 레지던트 아티스트 HVL은, 2009년 듀오 Okinawa Lifestyle의 멤버로 처음 주목받기 시작한 이후 조지아의 트빌리시 클럽 씬을 중심으로 번성하는 테크노 무브먼트의 선두에 서 있다. 2013년 솔로 활동을 시작한 이후 HVL은 다양한 장르와 스타일을 탐구해왔고, Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records, Organic Analogue와 같은 언더그라운드 전초기지에서 발매된 그의 솔로 앨범들은 라이브 공연과 DJ 세트를 통해 만들어진 그의 독특한 취향을 담아내고 있다.
Organic Analogue Records에서 발매된 뛰어난 풀-랭스 데뷔작인 Ostati LP(2018)는 트빌리시 사운드를 정의하는 앨범으로, 매우 절제된 분위기의 아웃보드 하우스와 테크노를 중심으로 기존 HVL의 역동성을 매혹적으로 변화시킨 작품이다.

First coming to attention as a member of Okinawa Lifestyle duo in 2009, Bassiani/Horoom resident Gigi Jikia a.k.a HVL has become a leading voice of thriving techno movement centered around Tbilisi club scene. Since starting solo career in 2013, HVL was busy exploring more diverse range of genres and styles. His solo releases which have appeared on underground outposts like Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records and Organic Analogue, have testified to taste that’s also reflected in his Live performances and DJ sets.
The outstanding debut Ostati LP on Organic Analogue Records (2018), intended as a manuscript of the sound of Tbilisi, is a seductive update on the established HVL’s dynamics, centered on outboard house and techno with a noticeably understated mood.
As HVL’s reputation as a solo artist grows, so does his status as a selector and DJ. Jikia has taken his skillfully crafted Live shows and DJ sets to new heights in 2018, hitting up some of the best dancefloors in the world from Berghain and Hï Ibiza to infamous Berlin Atonal.

이 세트는 Ab Uno (Eugenio Petrarca - Roberto Di Ciaccio)가 지난 2년 동안 런던과 베를린을 오가며 녹음한 여러 스튜디오 세션을 재구성하고 결합한 결과물로, 일체형 드론과 모듈러 멜로디 시퀀스를 혼합한 그들이 앰비언트/드론 음악에 접근하는 방식을 포괄적으로 드러내는 작품입니다. 수많은 사운드 레이어로 이루어진 이 작품은 기이한 분위기의 몰입형 내러티브를 담아내고 있으며, 청취자를 현실과 환상 사이의 사색으로 가득 찬 새로운 공간으로 안내하고 있습니다.

This material is the result of reshaping and combining several studio sessions originally recorded by Ab Uno (Eugenio Petrarca - Roberto Di Ciaccio) over the past two years between London and Berlin. It blends monolithic drones with modular melodic sequences to comprehensively reveal their approach to ambient/drone music. Comprising a variety of sound passages, the piece is an immersive narrative with an eerie atmosphere, guiding the listener through a journey full of suggestions and contemplations, carving a liminal space between reality and a hallucinatory otherness.

fleika grew up during the heyday of Prague’s rave culture, coming of age as a DJ in booths built for a single night only. The Czech techno renaissance formed him, then the newly-born club culture embraced him as one of its main protagonists.

Shinsuke Goto has honed his musical sensibility and DJ skills while working as a manager at “Mitsuki,” one of Tokyo’s most prominent venue in the 2020s. Currently, he is responsible for program curation at Mitsuki, and since 2022, he has been hosting the venue's only regular techno party, "AFTER LIFE," held bimonthly, where he has earned solid trust as a resident DJ.
Additionally, starting with participation at Japan's leading underground festivals "rural," and the domestic festival/project "LAPITA" which promotes exchanges with Asian countries, he has been expanding his name and reputation across Japan to the wider Asian region. Building on this momentum, in 2024, he launched the forward-thinking techno party "PYRO," rooted in a “local style.” Goto is a noteworthy player who continues to actively apply his on-the-ground approach to shaping spaces.

Shimizu also made his mark as a curator through his record label, SO::ON Dry FLOWER, which operated in Thailand for over a decade, releasing works by diverse artists.

After nearly 20 years in Bangkok, Shimizu returned to Japan in 2020 and released his solo EP, Imprint. In 2024, this EP was re-released with additional tracks on vinyl through the Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound. Currently, Shimizu is touring as the sound designer and engineer for Apichatpong’s first VR work, A Conversation with the Sun.

Raised in Sardinia, with a background in sound engineering and a passion for obsessive rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes, he has honed his craft to masterful levels. His performances and productions are a journey through the depths of techno, with a focus on hypnotic rhythms and immersive textures. Over the years, he has performed at some of the world's most renowned clubs and festivals. OCCA has been organizing ARCHIV for over 10 years at the sacred club, Precious Hall in Sapporo, located in the northernmost region of Japan, Hokkaido. With his own party ARCHIV at the core, he has been expanding his scope of activities from all over Japan to the rest of the world. As an entity of singularity, he aims to transform time/space/spirit into unknown realms by arranging multifaceted elements such as the spiritualism of Psychedelic Music, the storytelling nature of House Music, the sci-fi dystopian feel of Detroit Techno and the trance of Minimal Music in a three- dimensional way through his deft mixing.

After 10 years of trance career and numerous achievements, YUTA switched to techno in 2015, launched Liquid Drop Groove in 2016, releasing music, podcasts, video streaming, and in 2023 started the vinyl label TGPXLDG with NESS. In addition, he has taken a wide range of approaches to maximize the label's potential, including memorable outdoor parties such as Agaitida and EDEN, the indoor festival SPECTACLE, and Bassiani Tokyo collaboration series with overseas labels. YUTA creatives LDG label showcase at VENT and other venues which is the axis of all expression, deep techno Pendulum at ENTER (formerly Contact Club), and techno/minimal mixture party Red Lightning at MITSUKI.
YUTA's main activity DJ, a resident at the well-known VENT club in Tokyo. His music style is based on techno with deep/trancy and hypnotic/dubby, sometimes with breaks and bass, sometimes tribal/acid on house, and is characterized by a psychedelic groove and cinematic flow that he creates freely. In recent years, YUTA has toured extensively Asia, and performed at Quarry Stage in Wonderfruit in Thailand, the cave festivals Equation and Retreat in Vietnam, and clubs at SAVAGE and The Observatory in Vietnam, at Zhaodai and WIGWAM in China etc. In Europe, at Gare in Porto, at aboutblank in Berlin etc, festivals such as Modem in Croatia and OZORA in Hungary. Hailing from Belgium, Border One has amassed an irrefutable reputation in his home country and beyond since the release of his first 12-inch record in 2015. Between a fascination for sound discovery through the use of his modular synthesizer and his loyalty to the classic club rhythms, Border One’s style serves as a swiss-army knife for promoters and DJ’s on an international level. 
With a self description expressing a priority to make the crowd move, his music does not fall short of its intention. Forward thinking in its conception rendered highly functional in its implementation, Border One’s music finds middle ground in an increasingly polarized musical climate for the genre; whether it be through his selection as a DJ or his technicality as a producer. At the root of Nick Lapien and Robin Koek’s Artefakt project is a shared love for melancholic, hypnotic voodoo music. Their sound is pensive with deep, rich textures; long track lengths—often six-minutes-plus—give the duo an expansive framework in which to make small changes of texture and tone, creating cerebral, balanced atmospheres that absorb and engage. “Sometimes we just take a short element, like the sound of a falling drop of water, and from this recording we extract the rhythm and use it as a starting point,” they say. “It’s a very organic way of creating new material.” 
After a period of self-reflection, the Dutch duo returned in 2019 to launch a label with a new EP. De Stijl serves as a platform for their musical explorations and those of their close friends. The imprint’s inaugural EP,  Far and Wide, a lesson in dancefloor-ready techno that prioritises mood and melancholy, preceded Monsoon, Artefakt’s second album, this time on Svreca’s mighty Semantica Records. Across eight tracks, the duo evidenced an intrinsic understanding of rhythmic structures, confirming their status as one of the most singular and emotionally evocative acts in contemporary techno. 
As a live act, Lapien and Koek have performed all across Europe, North America, and Asia, their analog-heavy set a must-see for fans of melodic and deeply emotive techno. Drawing on their shared love for collecting records, they also perform as DJs, crafting long, hypnotic narratives laced with exclusive material and records from the expensive collections, old and new. 
Having first crosses paths at university, Lapien and Koek began making music together in 2012. Lapien, whose infectious, swinging house cuts have featured on Rekids, Soul People Music, and DVS1’s Mistress, was just beginning his career as a solo artist; while Koek, who designs his own artistic systems and teaches at dBs Music Berlin, had just earned a Master of Arts from Utrecht's School of Arts, specializing in Sound Design and Composition. After releasing two EPs on the legendary Dutch imprint Delsin Records, in 2017 Koek and Lapien presented their debut album, Kinship, cementing their nuanced, atmospheric style while showcasing its breadth. It was the first big step in their ongoing pursuit to adopt techno as an art-form rather than a genre.

First coming to attention as a member of Okinawa Lifestyle duo in 2009, Bassiani/Horoom resident Gigi Jikia a.k.a HVL has become a leading voice of thriving techno movement centered around Tbilisi club scene. Since starting solo career in 2013, HVL was busy exploring more diverse range of genres and styles. His solo releases which have appeared on underground outposts like Bassiani Records, Rough House Rosie, Tabernacle Records and Organic Analogue, have testified to taste that’s also reflected in his Live performances and DJ sets.
The outstanding debut Ostati LP on Organic Analogue Records (2018), intended as a manuscript of the sound of Tbilisi, is a seductive update on the established HVL’s dynamics, centered on outboard house and techno with a noticeably understated mood.
As HVL’s reputation as a solo artist grows, so does his status as a selector and DJ. Jikia has taken his skillfully crafted Live shows and DJ sets to new heights in 2018, hitting up some of the best dancefloors in the world from Berghain and Hï Ibiza to infamous Berlin Atonal.

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s.Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. 
in 1994,Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.
In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, His Japanese style of techno was pure, unique and underground - nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity quickly spread all over the continent. He was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ. As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, like awakenings,berghain,tresor. Promoters wanting him, party people loving him, Takaaki Itoh took the next step and started his own label Wols. Passion led to success and he became recognized as the top of the next generation of techno music.

Tozzi는 현대 딥테크노 씬의 핵심적인 레이블 Hypnus Records(스웨덴)를 통해 여러 장의 EP 앨범과 그의 대표적 작품이라 할 수 있는 앨범 “Deep Blue: Volume 2”(2016)를 발표하였다. 또한, 이탈리아의 저명한 프로듀서인 Dino Sabatini가 이끄는 Outis Music을 통해서는 솔로 작품들뿐만 아니라 Dino Sabatini와의 협업 작품들도 발표하였다.

Over the last few years Luigi Tozzi has been calmly making a name for himself as one of Europe’s go-to DJs for his distinct brand of techno that draws both from ambient music as well as from the club. Raised in Rome, the DJ and Producer takes influence from the timeless italian sound, which he’s further developed with an emotional, swirling, dubby atmosphere. There’s an unmistakable texture to his productions.
While prolific, Tozzi has kept his output within a close family of labels. Swedish label Hypnus are key here, having released a number of the producer’s EPs as well as his acclaimed debut album, Deep Blue: Volume 2, in 2016. Alongside Hypnus, Tozzi has worked closely with Outis Music, releasing both solo as well as collaborative work with the label’s founder, Dino Sabatini.
Tozzi’s unswerving commitment to his sound, alongside his pensive and considered development as an artist has brought him to where he is today, with a touring schedule that’s taken him to some of the finest clubbing establishments around the world. Within this, he maintains a residency at Khidi, Tbilisi, which in recent years has emerged as one of the best clubbing destinations in Europe. It’s through this platform that he brings his unique hybrid sound as both a DJ and producer, and can evolve and experiment as an artist.

1987년 이태리의 Sardinia 섬에서 태어난 Claudio PRC는, 아방가르드와 앰비언트 음악을 적극 수용한 딥테크노를 선보이는 특별한 아티스트이다. 초기 애시드 음악의 최면적인 사운드와 덥(dub)으로부터 파생된 깊은 울림들은 그의 음악에 큰 영향을 미쳤으며, 2006년부터 DJ 및 프로듀서로 활동하며 Prologue, Semantica 등 현대의 가장 저명한 딥테크노 레이블들에서 자신의 작품들을 발표해왔다. Claudio는 특히 그의 파트너인 Ness와 함께 진행해온 TGP(The Gods Planet) 프로젝트를 통해 수많은 작품들을 발표하였으며, 또한 재능있는 아티스트들의 새로운 음악들을 꾸준히 소개해 왔다. 현재에는 이탈리아 칼리아리 지역에서 활동중인 Basstation 크루의 멤버로 활동중이며, 또한 파라과이의 클럽 Ankali에서 레지던트 디제이로 활동하며 ’Volumi Dinamici’ 나잇을 정기적으로 주최하는 등, 전 세계적으로 왕성한 활동을 이어오고 있다.

Erika dreams on the cellular level, or perhaps of transdimensional intelligences moving through strange patterns on celestial objects, working towards a mysterious goal. Her connection to the dreamworld becomes concrete in her approach to music, simultaneously so solid and yet so ethereal. Erika still finds time to accomplish many things in her waking hours, such as being a member of Ectomorph, co-conspirator of Detroit's Interdimensional Transmissions record label, DJing with vinyl, making music with her pet machines, and running erika.net - a freeform streaming radio station. Erika.net celebrates its 13th year this year, being one of the very first iTunes presets. From 1993 through 1999, Erika was very involved in WCBN in Ann Arbor, as a freeform and jazz DJ, and Program Director.
The daughter of a famed scientist and already running a well known BBS from her bedroom by the time she was 13, Erika is no stranger to expressing her ideas through technology. In 1997 she was handed a TR-606 and asked to join Ectomorph, and has since become an electronic musician of the highest order, focusing on analog synthesis, with live hardware sequencing that allows transformation over time and a deep depth of tone.
