Prolific house DJ and producer Thierry Tomas teams up with Belgian producer Pat Lezizmo for a two tracker on Steve Bug’s home for more reduced, hypnotic, and raw sounds, Sublease Music.

The Boy Who Recorded Birds is the title track for this release, and sees the pair collaborate on an amped up groover that instantly draws listeners (and dancers) in and keeps them locked throughout. A swinging, deep groove sets the tone, while the addition of various vocal snips, synth washes, and a funky bass keep the track moving and evolving throughout. A real treat from start to finish.

The Girl Who Drew Flowers maintains the funkiness, but boils things down to a more minimal state of affairs. The track leaves lots of space to get lost in, while carrying the vibe ever forward via clever drum programming and an infectious groove.

With six in six on Rejected Steve Bug is, what you might call, firmly part of the family. As is his regular sparring partner Cle. However, for the first of '23, the Berlin-based producer flies solo on two excellent late night, heavy-hitting, groovers.

Whilst describing the movements and sounds of the opening track to perfection, 'Grumble Bumble', is also a title that can deceive. There are no tired, ageing shapes being thrown to this mid noughties Pokerflat'esque soundtrack. Strobe light at the ready. Sweat on the walls, the warehouse is calling.

Beautifully countering the heads down stripped-back bounce of the A side, is the percussive and uplifting funk of 'Get Away From Me'. Skipping along on jazzy rides and rim-shots, its menacing chords are pierced by synth stabs, claps and a silky vocal, to create a track that balances power and poise to perfection.

The title “Number Face'' comes from my wish for a peaceful world where individual values and ways of thinking are respected.
No one in the world is the same or has the same face. Just like our environments, what we like, what we don't like, what we're good at, and what we value are different. I would be happy if you could realize that no two people are the same, that means you are unique, and that each of you is important.

In this album, "Number Face," the music expresses a sympathy with the various movements of the human heart; the thoughts, feelings, and concerns of our daily lives.
