❂A Ceremony in Ancient Java  

➳ Java, 5000 years ago a small Neolithic community gathered under the warm glow of the setting sun. The villagers had come together for a sacred ceremony guided by their revered shaman who possessed a deep connection with the spiritual realm.

➳ The air was thick with an anticipation as the rhythmic beat filled the atmosphere, its primal echoes reverberating through the souls of the gathered villagers. As twilight painted the sky with hues of purple and gold, the shaman began calling upon the spirits of nature to lend their guidance and blessings.

➳ With graceful gestures, the shaman invited the villagers to participate. Each person stepped forward, whispered their intentions, hopes and dreams into the wind. The villagers joined hands, forming a circle that symbolized their unity with one another and the natural world.

➳ As the ceremony finds its peak, the shaman spoke about the importance of harmony between humans and the world they inhabited. He carried inspiration and blessings into the villagers’ hearts, to secure peace and happiness.

➳ Proven information about how the people and communities actually lived more than 5000 years ago in Java is very rare. However, ancient ceremonies were held to connect with each other, nature, and everything beyond the tangible. It’s part of who they were, ensuring the harmony and well-being of the community for generations to come.

Happy new year everyone! I had the immense pleasure of playing this 2.5 hour set at 2 am after New Years Eve at Rhythm & Alps festival 2023 in Aotearoa New Zealand, closing the lush Playhouse tent. 

The Playhouse is part of the Yumm Zone, offering couches, cushions, carpet, warm heaters, free hot chai tea and a welcoming vibe for everyone to slow down and feel at ease.

Thanks everyone from the crew for making me feel at home, and the crowd that contributed to the lovely energy in the tent.
