This selection is what I personally consider the pinnacle of DnB music. If your track is not listed here it doesn't necessarily mean it is not good. The problem is, there's too much awesome DnB music out there and I had to make choices. In the back of my mind, I also wanted lesser known artists and labels to be recognized. Chances are high that your track is listed in one of those ;) Side note: I wouldn't be exaggerating if I would say I have scanned through aprox. 10.000 DnB tracks just to come up with these 8 Reference Class playlists ! Formed in February 2019, Immersed Recordings is a US-based label team that focuses on melodic and progressive house. Immersed has garnered nearly 10 million streams and support of some of the biggest DJs and radio stations such as KissFM UK, SlamFM NL, SiriusXM, Above & Beyond, Nora En Pure, and Lane 8.

In June 2022, Immersed Recordings formed the Immersed Group in order to present the brand new sister label, Suspended Sounds. After the success of GLXY’s remix of ‘Titanica’ on Immersed, the team felt it was a natural idea to expand into the drum ’n’ bass genre. The new label Suspended Sounds will focus on the DNB subgeneres of liquid and melodic dancefloor. Much time had passed since the uprising of the demon kings had sprung forth from the ancient obelisk, bringing ruin to the great city that had been built around it. Yet more had passed since humanity had lost their homeworld to these malevolent creatures, who poured out from the monument with no other desire than to torture, pillage, and destroy. For years, all-out war had raged on the Earth’s surface and yet for all of humanity’s most valiant efforts, the killing of one demon had begotten only the rising of two more. In their final hour, those scant few who survived had fled to the stars, abandoning the wreckage of their beloved home. It was there that they maintained an uneasy existence above it, one tied to the sanctuary of a handful of meager orbital stations scattered amidst their solar system.

It was from these stations that they now watched in horror as a great celestial body rapidly entered their domain, its surface scarred by gargantuan visages of suffering and despair that protruded from its surface. As it neared the abandoned remains of their homeworld, the gravity well of the hellish sphere sucked its shattered pieces almost instantaneously inward as though feeding the horrific faces that marred its ochre hide. Though sound permeated not through the vacuum of space, the minds of all those who watched were split by a psychic scream of pleasure that emanated forth from the planet as though it were a living being. Then, as though sated by the life it had consumed, it began to drift back beyond the bounds of their solar system, completing the cycle of DIVERGENCE once more.

Vypes combines modern heavy dance music with a moody dystopian twist. Add his virtuoso skills as a guitarist and you have a combination which has never been seen before in this corner of music.

His first 2 years as a releasing artist have been very eventful. Being supported by Rene LaVice in his BBC radio 1 show, a booking at NOX (one of the biggest bass events in the Netherlands) and praise from some of the bigger names in the scene being some of his milestones.

His debut EP “Skyline” showcases not only his skills to create individual tracks of high quality, but also his ability to create a coherent story as one work of art. Skyline takes you through a musical journey. From the apocalyptical cacophony which is “Renegade” to the melancholic ravey “Want You Back”. Vypes has found his voice, and will continue to push and develop it.

I am breathing electronic music since late 70s and that's over 45 years now. From Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yazoo, Alphaville, Men without Hats, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Front 242, Anne Clark, Camouflage, Gary Numan, OMD, Apopytygma Berzerk and even the Commodore 64 demo & break dance scene to more contemporary Electronic music artists, I witnessed the evolution of Electronic music, which basically means I am an old fart and consider myself an authority in this music genre 😵 Currently I listen DnB almost exclusively. But I do not like to restrict myself at all, enjoying flavors like Electronica, Trance, Psytrance, Tech House, Dubstep, Deep House, Future Pop, Trap, Techno, UK Bass and of course EBM/Industrial as well.

What you will find in my likes and playlists is the top of the crop in Electronic Music, I will  absolutely not list any bullshit. A track I have not listed might be just that: Bullshit, just mediocre or an artistic gem which I haven't discovered yet.
