Returning after their incredible debut single and beastly UA1 contribution, The Nilk is back on Unbeyond Anthologies for their first multi-track release with the label, “The Haze”.

On this new project, The Nilk showcases their forward-thinking and dynamic approach to heavier strains of dubstep across four dark tracks, alongside an interlude that reflects their melodic chops as well. The title track of the EP sets the stage with ominous melodies and hard-hitting, tense drops that are rich with texture and life. “Doppelgänger” features energetic patterns and thick metallic sound design, packing an immense amount of stylistic variety and switch-ups, while “Lost” invokes garage percussion and ethereal vocals. “Souls Of The Damned” offers a more rhythmic, subtle approach, and closer “Last Breath” is the most atmospheric cut of the package, while also delivering some of the most twisted sound design on show.

“This collection, for all intents and purposes is the first official installment of a new story, a new sonic world. This world follows this unknown, unnamed protagonist in an archaeological expedition of which uncovers a being. This haze, this power with no conceivable form will hunt the protagonist, playing with them psychologically, changing forms into what is familiar to them.” The Nilk says. “The protagonist is lost, with no direction, and know that with every step the haze approaches, and so too is their demise. Their soul is trapped, their whole being lost within the grips of this being, damned for the rest of time, and as they draw their final breath, this omnipotent mist draws more power, in preparation to bring the world to a far darker end.”
