THE LUCID PODCAST 108 LOUD NEIGHBOR (LIVE) LUCIDFLOW-RECORDS.COM



Escape Control is the debut album from the Brooklyn based techno band, Loud Neighbor. Last year the album was released as a 6 part vinyl series, A side = LN originals, B sides = remixes. A wide variety of international artists, from techno and house legends like Octave One and Woody to young talent such as Joop Junior and Layton Giordani, took the Loud Neighbor stems to create their own masterpieces. Each producer had his own approach, many incorporating even more hardware into the production. Some of the producers, such as Alexi Delano and Tony Rohr, strip it down to the bare elements, while others, such as Alixander III, Xpansul and Marcos In Dub, maximize the track, incorporating almost all the original elements to the nth degree and then some. Overall, everybody respected the essence of the original album, but injected their own flavor to create a collection of eclectic techno and house tracks. Together the remixes create a new story that is very dance floor oriented, yet still pushing the core concept to escape control.

The next mix series we bring you someone who might be known to many for quite some time, someone who is a huge supporter of what we do and someone we are equally appreciative of as a producer, label owner and Dj. 

Martin Swanstein aka. Martinez goes back a long way, to many, he might be remembered as part of Cocoon with fellow members such as Raresh, Ricardo and Onur Ozer back in the day.  Moving on from that, here we bring a very fresh take on this artist whose level of competence is superb, his ability to impress and reinvent himself is what captured our eyes and ears and so it is with great pleasure we bring him as part of this mix series.

Toi.Toi.Mix Series 10 by Martinez (Concealed Sounds)

This is the unedited recording from the mixing desk of the live improvisation I did last friday at the Specka club in Madrid. The challenge was to make a set using primitive machines improvising in real time. the setup was: Korg Electribe Er 1 mkII, Korg Electribe Mx 1, Korg Volca Keys, Roland Tb 303, Boss dr 550mk II, Arturia Beatstep pro and a Boss dd3 Delay, all together on a micro Behringer xeniy 502 mixer and straight to the PA.

being an improvisation is of course full of random mistakes, but it is part of the risk and the document. Enjoy!
