Born in Calgary, Alberta, Waddell Smith is a member of the Siksika Nation. Smith is known for producing, singing, songwriting and is the sole founder of the recording label Down Beat Productions.

The self-taught producer/guitarist creates a 90's inspired style of grunge/rock music as well as various genres similar to country, pop and gospel. Also known as WS1 other acts include the hip-hop duo, True U.G.N. (underground natives) and is a unique combination of original beats and underground hip-hop.
