In this podcast, infectious disease specialist, Dr. Rajeev Fernando shares his insights about the monkeypox virus and why there are new cases globally, if the public should be alarmed, are there any stigmas associated with monkeypox, and if there will be new variants like SARS-CoV-2.

Dr. Fernando is a Fellow of the BIDMC/Harvard Medical School Fellowship in Disaster Medicine. He has experience with COVID-19 in Mexico, Brazil, India, and the United States. He was on the ground during the 2014 Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone and in Brazil during the Zika virus outbreak of 2016. Dr. Fernando currently is working on a project with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to establish a wellness/mental health center in Kyiv for victims of sexual assault, trauma, and armed conflict.
