Ranging between the sticky crowded dancefloor and the safe haven of ambient roots it hints at, the album, released through Swiss label Neopren Records, still unfolds its own room of both subtlety and drive as well as a much-needed sense of buoyancy and a certain impression of forward movement. With a new and unexpected feeling for roughness and spontaneity and some great avant-garde moments („Buscheli“), Unfold is a marked progression, both in terms of composing and producing, in the career of the artist.

On Hyperdelia’s first release »Erster Teil - Zweiter Teil - Dritter Teil« the recording studio takes eight musicians on astral travelling. The Serenus Zeitblom Oktett’s album is the beautiful result of a complexly processed abstraction of a live acoustic jazz ensemble becoming a hyperdelic space tentacle, reaching into bass depths and pop dimensions: one moment zooming into microscopic miniature sounds only to branch out into free floating airy planes in the next.

»Erster Teil - Zweiter Teil - Dritter Teil« is the debut LP of the Berlin based ensemble Serenus Zeitblom Oktett. The Oktett from Berlin consists of musicians with a broad pop, free jazz and contemporary music background. All eight musicians have worked in various formations and with various musicians, ranging from Efterklang’s Martyn Heyne (who also did post-production on the record) and Matthew Herbert to Ingrid Laubrock, Stargaze, Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra and many more. These diverse backgrounds inform the Oktett’s artificial but organic live sound-production aesthetic.

The ensemble is accompanied by a ninth member, the Klanggestalter. Both in the studio as well as live every instrument is being amplified and processed by filters and live algorithms, neutralising the difference of acoustic and electric instruments.

The LP comes with a special video documentary by Roman Hagenbrock (i am just a video girl). The video adds another poetic layer of abstraction: confusing sound, action and image.

Wælder are moving between ambient, industrial and pop. Their rhythms and soundscapes of voices, obscure samples and distorted field-recordings build spaces of barren material and soft ground, which teem and crawl - strange and harmonious. To present their music live, Wælder are mixing analogue and digital effects with guitar, synthesizers, vocals and loops. Rhythms and atmospheres blur, dissolve and re-assemble. Their live shows are often framed by visuals, generated in collaboration with various visual artists.

Founded 2013 in Vienna by Moritz Nahold and Jan Preißler, Wælder has since played numerous concerts, collaborated with various artists and composed music for theatre, film and installations. In addition to their EPs 'Firn' and '&' they released 'Anachronie' in 2015 on the label Kreismusik. Wælder’s second album 'Non Places' will be released on 26.01.2018 via Denovali Records.

Non Places was recorded and produced in different locations at different times in Vienna and Berlin. Wælder experimented independently with their tracks, later reassembling them over the internet. The eight pieces tell this process and at the same time create an independent perspective on the process of their creation. A church organ, detuned in manuals and registers, a vacuum cleaner embedded in the sound of a piano, and precisely programmed patterns of electronic devices are just a few of the elements found on the album. The name Non Places comes from the eponymous publication Non-Lieux (Eng. non-places) by the French anthropologist Marc Augé. By means of the happenings in the specific space of Vienna / Berlin and the exchange about the nonspecific space of the Internet, the countless server rooms crossed by shared audio data have been interpreted as monofunctional places, without relation and history. If music and the process of creation are two different places, then Non Places is the gap-bridging perspective. What happens and sounds is an experiment of space, body, form and purpose.

Living With You is the third track to be aired from John Cale’s Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood (released October 2012). Its craftsmanship and artfulness belied the unparalleled career experience of John Cale, and many heard it as rock music at its most sublime.

Living With You is built on Cale’s trademark viola drone with some of the most delicate nylon guitar picking he claims to have ever heard. He also says that here he ‘found a way to write a nice feeling and not be terribly sappy about it. I do have an occasional moment of happiness, but they never last too long!’ he laughs. 

The single bundle comes with an ‘Organic Mix’ of the track, which is a more stripped down version made by Cale that revels in the stark and nakedly emotional nature of the song and a Laurel Halo Remix. This remix comes after a defining year for Laurel who was awarded Wire’s album of the year in 2012 after the release of her critically lauded debut full length ‘Quarantine’.
