Devastating dance floor rhythms from Slam on the Wave Tension EP

Slam continue to up their momentum with the first EP since their massive new album Dark Channel. Once again, the sole focus being straight up techno, designed for the dance floor, as they drop the 3 track ‘Wave Tension EP’. Never content to remain stationary, the latest EP has the duo in fine form as they drive to evolve the contemporary techno sound. 

Title track 'Wave Tension' is a relentless, driven opener as slightly distorting synths mutate throughout the track pursued by Slam’s ever distinctive rhythms. 'Lost Pattern' continues in hard hitting fashion with alarm-like synths pushing the intensity before 'Violence' closes out the EP with warping and viscous dynamics that create propulsive atmospherics.

Exploring the harsh, barren world of Planeta Sigma is an awe-inspiring paradox—amid landscapes of cracked stone and acidic winds, life clings to existence in astonishing forms. The vegetation, if it can be called that, defies terrestrial expectations: translucent fronds that absorb faint starlight, root systems that drill deep into mineral veins for sustenance, and fibrous sacs that store vapor from the planet’s toxic mists. MindTrip proudly welcomes Italian duo Esilum. Following their remix of Melt on our recent Parallel remix contest, they now land on MindTrip with a complete sonic statement titled Observation. Past and future bend into each other across these tracks — where hypnotic architecture meets analogue warmth, and precise modernity resonates with echoes from the 90s. This is a sonic orbit both cerebral and physical: raw at times, subtle at others, always guided by intention. A journey through parallel timelines of Techno, where mental landscapes unfold into deeper, more visceral dimensions. Esilums approach remains fearless: genre-fluid, emotionally honest, and technically razor-sharp. Another step forward in their ongoing mutation of sound and spirit.

The polyrhythmical structures were produced by exploiting game of life controlled recursive-network structures. Therefor the rhythms change in relation to each other. The sound itself is a simple sample of the infamous 909-Kick. Each of the 24 tracks have been processed as input-material for analog 'no-input-' or rather feedback-mixing and afterwards spatialized as segregated channels of the ambisonic-system.

"Monokultur" is at the same time the german word for "mono crops", while it can also be used to describe homogenization in culture. On the other hand Rave-Culture, Techno, Bassmusic - although not totally in mono - is based primarily on bass & rhythm provided by mono-bass-sounds, therefor is "mono-culture". The exploitation of (ultra-)minimalistic structures, similar to that of Steve Reich & Terry Riley, credits their historical importance in emergence of Techno- & House-music, while reducing it even more, by getting rid of tonality for the sake of noise.
