ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸੁਰਹ ਕੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਲ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ!) ਗਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੋਰ ਹੈ,
You walk like a cow.

ਤੇਰੀ ਪੂੰਛਟ ਊਪਰਿ ਝਮਕ ਬਾਲ ॥੧॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਪੂਛਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਾਲ ਭੀ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਮਕਦੇ ਹਨ (ਹੇ ਕੁੱਤਾ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਜੀਵ! ਸ਼ਰੀਫ਼ਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
The hair on your tail is shiny and lustrous. ||1||

ਇਸ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਹੈ ਸੁ ਤੂ ਢੂੰਢਿ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵ!) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੱਕ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਰਤ । 
Look around, and eat anything in this house.

ਅਉਰ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੇ ਤੂ ਮਤਿ ਹੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਬਿਗਾਨੇ ਮਾਲ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਨਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
But do not go out to any other. ||1||Pause||

ਚਾਕੀ ਚਾਟਹਿ ਚੂਨੁ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
(ਹੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ!) ਤੂੰ ਚੱਕੀ ਚੱਟਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਆਟਾ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ,
You lick the grinding bowl, and eat the flour.

ਚਾਕੀ ਕਾ ਚੀਥਰਾ ਕਹਾਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
ਪਰ (ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਪਰੋਲਾ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਇਂਗਾ? (ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੋਜ਼ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਭਲਾ ਵਰਤੀ; ਪਰ ਜੋੜ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਹ ਲੈ ਜਾਇਂਗਾ?) ।੨।
Where have you taken the kitchen rags? ||2||

ਛੀਕੇ ਪਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਡੀਠਿ ॥
(ਹੇ ਸੁਆਨ!) ਤੂੰ ਛਿੱਕੇ ਵਲ ਬੜਾ ਤੱਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ,
Your gaze is fixed on the basket in the cupboard.

ਮਤੁ ਲਕਰੀ ਸੋਟਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰੈ ਪੀਠਿ ॥੩॥
ਵੇਖੀਂ, ਕਿਤੇ ਲੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਤੋਂ ਸੋਟਾ ਨਾਹ ਵੱਜੇ । (ਜੇ ਜੀਵ! ਬਿਗਾਨੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਪਾਧੀ ਹੀ ਨਿਕਲੇਗੀ) ।੩।
Watch out - a stick may strike you from behind. ||3||

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭੋਗ ਭਲੇ ਕੀਨ ॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਸੁਆਨ!) ਤੂੰ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਧਾ ਉਜਾੜਿਆ ਹੈ,
Says Kabeer, you have over-indulged in your pleasures.

ਮਤਿ ਕੋਊ ਮਾਰੈ ਈਂਟ ਢੇਮ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਪਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖੀਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਟ ਢੇਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇ । (ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਤੂੰ ਜੁ ਇਹ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੁੱਝਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਖ਼ੁਆਰੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੧।
