Back in the early 1990s, if you wanted to prolong a chemically-induced high, it was the custom among a certain class of clubber to rub some Tiger Balm on the temples, for an extra rush. Over the years, this practice has sadly fallen out of club fashion alongside Travel Fox, poppers and imbeciles dressing in day-glo colours. However, we are happy to report that Tigerbalm has returned, though this time in perfectly human form. We can also confidently state that listening to Tigerbalm, rather than rubbing her on your temples, will create an incredible natural high, thanks to her impeccable taste in music, her deck skills and not forgetting her always memorable method of dress. 

Tigerbalm (Rose Robinson to her mum and dad) was born and raised in Herne Hill, in the badlands of south London and has been DJing professionally for ten years. She has a unique sound that gathers in African, Latin and various world influences and somehow makes them work in and alongside modern electronic music. “I’m passionate about sharing global music flavours,” she explains. “Musically, that can be anything from Italo-disco, French boogie, Afro-house, highlife, Brazilian funk or Asian-inspired edits. My favourite sounds are percussion heavy, heavily Afro-Latin, because the swing embodied in those sounds is what creates a happy dancefloor.” 

As a DJ she is, indeed, a busy girl. Most weeks will find her either peaking scruffy basements full of dry ice and sweaty ravers or entertaining private members’ clubs with her extrovert sounds, gilded always with her unique world perspective. Wahine Mix ☀️ RISE vol 20

I had a nice time during my hour, playing a selection of disco and funk oldies, with a few promos in the second hour. Good to be back in business with my laptop fixed and my setup in its new and improved location - excuse a bit of feedback on the mic as i’m still getting everything just right. 
My guest this time was FunkSupply, a DJ from Portsmouth on the South coast of England. I had the pleasure of meeting him on a dancefloor in East London a couple of weeks back watching Young Pulse, and I can confirm he’s a nice bloke. His mix is nice too - a pulsing, high energy mix of disco and disco house with tracks from the likes of Jamiroquai and Shapeshifters.

Wahine–an award-winning radio show host, music blogger, interviewer, and event producer–has worn many hats since returning to the decks after a 10-year hiatus. Her comeback began with winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019, making her international debut at the festival and reigniting her DJ career.
Her appearance at the Defected festival alongside house legends and luminaries propelled her into the spotlight of the international disco and house scene, leading to her current status as a globally celebrated talent. 

She co-hosts the Spin City show on MyHouseRadio.fm and is a Passion Ibiza Radio resident. She has contributed guest mixes to various platforms including NTS, Mi-House, Sinestesia Ibiza, and Disco Deviance.

Post-pandemic, Wahine ventured into music production, with her mashups charting on Hypeddit and gaining support from radio shows worldwide. She hosts events in Atlanta, including Soul Seek and Joy*Ride, along with her signature tropical-flavored disco event, Wahine’s Hideaway, featuring international guests like Dicky Trisco and The Funk District.

Wahine has supported renowned artists Crazy P, DJ Sneak, Lego, and DJ Disciple at events in Los Angeles, Atlanta, London, and Amsterdam. Her radio show has featured guests such as The Reflex, Aroop Roy, and YSE Saint Laur'ant.

Described as “Disco in Paradise,” her sound is sundrenched and full of tropical influences, matching her Hawaiian moniker. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams with equal parts brains and brawn with every beat telling a story of rhythm and roots.

Trained in a dozen world dance forms, Wahine is known to spend her last track on the dancefloor in communion with her fellow dancers.
