Samurai Mix Competition

Today, the online music portal of Mixmag magazine published an article commemorating some of the women who have shaped and contributed to the progression of electronic music. Taking into account the state of the underground and contemporary clubbing landscape we know today, amongst the various vanguards like Donna Summer and Heather Heart were Metalheadz co-founder and the second to none selector, DJ Storm. Renowned for her a pivotal part in the formation of a subculture fuelled by warehouse raves and momentous soundsystems and her close connoisseurs and fellow Metalheadz operators, Goldie and the late DJ Kemistry, the superbly progressive strain of drum & bass and the unadulterated territories that came with that time were critical in the ever evolving electronic movement. Even now, her role in the scene today is as imperative as ever, representing a label and a sound that’s still flourishing some 25 years later. 

A week on Friday Storm will once again link with her Metalheadz crew as the label takes hold of our Room One to toast the launch of label signee Mikal's debut album. To give us a snippet of what's in store the DJ aptly dubbed ‘the first lady of drum & bass’ has graciously taken the time to pull together another of her excercises in first class selections in this brand new and exclusive promo mix.

DJ Storm - FABRICLIVE x Metalheadz Mix

As an original part of the Metalheadz crew (his name is inked on the spine of the label's first ever release), Doc Scott's been a constant influence and driving force behind 170bpm music whether working on Reinforced, HDZ, Bukem's Goodlooking imprint or on his own 31 Records. Over time since he first appeared the Coventry born producer's watched the scene he loves weather changes, or as his biography puts it "from it's transitions from rave to hardcore, jungle-techno to tech step to d&b, from UK based to a global scene and industry, Doc Scott has seen it all and been there for the entire journey." He's quite famously described by his long time friend Goldie as "king of the rollers" and he's the type of DJ that when he speaks, you simply put up and listen. 

And that's what we've been doing all day, since we received this exclusive mix, one he's delivered ahead of his Room Two appearance alongside LTJ Bukem, Klute and Dom & Roland a week on Friday. Sometimes gumpf just gets in the way so all we'll say, is sit back, get comfortable and press play...

The continuation of our Free to Download EP Series which features various forthcoming Boey Artists displaying and showcasing their intended styling for our imprint.

London Based  koyatsu (@koyatsu_f) starts us off with a track that is as gritty as it is deep yet still managing retaining a chilled out flow and vibe "NIght (VIP)" is a perfectly balanced, low riding, amen driven piece. 

Next Up Slovakian Junglist, Kybel (@kybel-1) keeps things moving with the wicked textures and vibes of Stellar Parallax. This one is a real journey with authentic drum amen rolls and a deep soundscape.

Then Vital Link (@leeroy_silk) long standing family member of the mighty Kemet Records Stable (@kemet-jungle-records) take us further on our journey, right to a more soul-filled and bright space in the world of jungle. "Paradise Garden" is a true throwback tune to the feel good vibes of early Jungle brought right up to the modern day with expert mixing and producing this is a must for any Junglists collection.

Irish Newcomer JMC (@james-mc-cahey) has been making waves on the Irish Jungle and DnB Scenes with his pin-point Vinyl sets showing true knowledge of Jungles stylings, history and it's scene. 
We Proudly present his first piece on Boey the intense track "Losing Time" is a proper stormer. The Intro is a tense build that drops into a barrage of drums and bass that are driven in all the right places. Perfect to get the heads bopping and the dancefloor moving. 
Great stuff from this young Irishman, showing he is more then just a solid DJ. 

Last but certainly not least we have the legend that is Abstract Illusion! A true Junglist who needs no introduction, this guy has been making serious waves on the scene for the past few years and we are really excited to be bringing you "One With The Force" on our little imprint. It's a heavy rolling jungle tip infused with grit and power which draws you in from the start. 
Abstract Illusions delivers yet another expertly crafted intro, perfectly arranged synths, bass and of course Star Wars Samples drop into a break that really is a force to be reckoned with. 

The High level of production and true OG Jungle feel and vibe keep you locked throughput on this one, great track, we are blessed to be bringing it you for free DL along with the rest of this Banging EP!!

Boey want to give another shout to these wicked producers, without them none of these EPs would be coming out, so please please make sure you head over and support these guys and help us give them the props they deserve for these solid tracks, all for free thanks to the Artist and Boey's A&R team.

JMC - Losing Time [Free Download]

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, wAh is an upcoming dj / music producer based in Dublin, Ireland. His interest in music started at just 12 years of age, when he learned how to play several instruments such as guitar and bass guitar. During his teenage years, wAh joined and appeared in multiple local bands and this began to pave the way in to the music scene in which he is involved today. 

His move to Dublin, back in 2005, was his gateway to the electronic music  scene and he quickly became an avid Drum & Bass music listener and fan. From there on, wAh became immersed in the Dublin club scene and began surrounding himself with people working in the music industry. These factors, combined with his passion for music, resulted in him taking his first steps in to music production and DJing back in 2008.

Since then, wAh has played in some well known clubs and music festivals across Ireland such as the Twisted Pepper, The Vaults, Life Festival and Electric Picnic, to name just a few.

Today, wAh is focused on creating innovative music and is constantly evolving as a producer and DJ with his music expanding beyond the Drum & Bass scene.  Several projects are currently in production, covering different styles of music. From Trip-Hop to Hip-Hop, Dubstep to Drum & Bass, Wah doesn't stop surprising with his versatility and willingness to evolve as an artist.

wAh is an emerging talent of the electronic scene and a DJ / Producer that is moved and influenced by everything and everyone that surrounds him. You definitely don't want to miss out and should keep him on your radar.
