Wah Wah 45s are proud to present the first remix to emerge of their new signing, and afrobeat legend, Dele Sosimi!

Mysterious south coast producer, and Tru Thoughts recording artist, Titeknots delivers a powerful punch with his club friendly re-work of Dele’s first single for Wah Wah 45s. As a beat-maker who prides himself in making ‘house music for dancers, not head-nodders’ he comes through with a dance floor destroying mix that sets Dele’s rasping vocals against typically incendiary drums, percussion and dramatic strings to create a sure fire club banger.

Born in Hackney, East London, but soon to return to his parents’ native Nigeria at the age of four, Dele Sosimi was schooled and raised in Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s shadow at the height of early 70s afrobeat. Having been chosen by Fela to join his band at somewhat of a tender age, he was still a young man when sharing Fela’s Glastonbury stage in 1984, and became both Musical Director for both Fela’s Egypt 80 and Femi Kuti’s Positive Force.

After Fela’s passing in 1997, Dele went on to concentrate on his own solo career and, with diligent patience, carved out his own afrobeat crown. In London, where he now resides, his Afrobeat Vibration all-nighters are charged with his passion, labours and his unrelenting spirit and deliver Fela classics alongside his own compositions from his first two studio albums, Turbulent Times, and Identity.

I was honoured when Pierre Chrétien asked me to do a remix of the single "Parasite" just around  the "Manifesto" album release.
This version was only previously released on a promo CD that I'm aware of and has never been publicly available.
In a recent conversation with Pierre I asked is he was cool with me putting it up on my Soundcloud for "you all" and he was in.  I then spoke with label head of "Do Right! Music", John Kong, to make sure everything was cool on his end and he was down.

The Souljazz Orchestra - Parasite (lifeboogie Remix)

A relatively unknown artist, Edith Peters was active between the 50s and 70s, singing as a member of The Peters Sisters, and as an actress; after marrying her Italian agent in 1958, she moved to Italy where she starred in several movies, TV series and ads.

In 1973 Sante Palumbo wrote and arranged a couple of songs for Edith Peters, perhaps with the aim of promoting her solo career. It was the same year he released “Sway”, which was destined to become a cult LP.
“This Is the Moment” was originally released as the B-side of “Lord Please Hear my Prayer”, a rare 45 published by Cipiti Records. On Cipiti she had already released her rendition of “Speak Softly, Love”, a theme from “The Godfather” soundtrack, though her career was at that time orientated more toward her activity as a TV and movie actress. And when the single was released, it was rapidly overshadowed by more important releases like “The Dark Side Of The Moon” by Pink Floyd.

And it is a shame, since “This Is the Moment”, written by Tony Benn Feghaly (erroneously credited as ‘T. B. Feghall’ in the original release) and Sante Palumbo, is an amazing gospel-soul song. In only two minutes and a half The Sante Palumbo Orchestra accompanies Peters’ entrancing voice, delivering a groovy and intense interpretation – a richness that requires multiple listen to grasp all the nuances of this stunningly orchestrated piece.

The original 1973 version of the song is here featured as a B-side, while Gerardo Frisina signs the A-side of this reissue with a rework of the track – doubling the length and adding his signature rhythm patterns.

Discotexas subsidiary, Forbidden Cuts returns with another of its club-focussed EPs,
this time a jazzy affair from Oma Nata, a mysterious Portuguese artist living in
Hamburg.
The man behind the Oma Nata moniker has released a wide range of music but with
this project focusses on a more moody, vibrant and exotic sound that takes in
everything from Latin American influences to West African jazz as well as classic
house.
First up, the fantastic ‘Twisted Luck’ is a freeform house number with jazz trumpets
and finger clicks, low slung bass and blues vocals all coalescing into a vibrant groove.
A mélange of melodies and saxophones, chords and percussive lines all take turns in
being the lead and it’s the sort of swinging track to get any floor moving.
The equally brilliant and busy ‘A Break Forever’ is all jazzy chords and prickly
percussion. It’s loose yet loopy and will get anyone up on their toes thanks to its
excellent St Germain style deep house vibes.
These are two fresh and original tunes that bring real originality and invention to house
music.

Copenema is the latest incarnation of Music For Dream’s label boss Kenneth Bager in collaboration with friends, Rodrigo Sha, Troels Hammer & Thomas Schultz. 

Copenema is a collaboration between Denmark and Brazil – Copenhagen vs Ipanema = Copenema. The album was partly recorded in Rio De Janeiro in the living room of Rodrigo Sha and in Copenhagen at Volmers studio.

Following the release of original, 'Te Faz Bem', Bager has created an extended, sun-kissed, dance floor focused version.

When Patchworks AKA Voilaaa takes control of a remix, it's rarely a simple facelift. Mucagiami is no exception to the rule. First adapted by Guts, this 1976 song is this time a gap spacio-temporal in Cape Verde 80's. Nervous beat and low snoring, the producer redraws the piece with discoid and round contours. Vum Vum becomes the MC, the fire starter of a club that he helped to reduce to ashes, leaving the synths to finish his dancework alone.
