Amidst the fervent anticipation of the release of Stac's long awaited second album (due in the spring of 2014) our favourite soulful songstress has found the time to gather together ten of her favourite pieces of contemporary music for your delictation, in the shape of the third instalment of the "Allo Love" series.

Stac is a real music lover (not a fighter) and her selection exemplifies the breadth of her knowledge, and her perfectly pitched taste. A sonorous collection, it kicks off in grandiose style with music from The London Bulgarian Choir, no less, and remains in deep musical waters with the Matthew Herbert produced Hejira, trumpeter and friend Matthew Halsall and close contemporaries, Natural Self and Blue Daisy.

You'll also find a quartet of cherry picked Wah Wah 45s nuggets, with music from The Gene Dudley Group, Henri-Pierre Noel, Lea Lea and Scrimshire fitting perfectly into Stac's personal soundtrack, and the latter's cut also featuring the lady herself on fine vocal form. 

Finally, Stac also appears on a stunning downtempo delight from the mysterious William Sommers with whom she duets on the delicate "Delight", a tune that sums this compilation up perfectly. Enjoy.

Paul White’s debut for R&S Record, Shaker Notes, saw him move away from the free-wheeling hip hop he made his name with, and into deeper and more emotionally compelling territory. The psych rock, jazz and soundtrack obsessions he hinted at on that LP are brought into brilliant focus on this new EP. Paul White’s Seagull Mansion is a loose group of South London musicians, including regular foil and 22a label head Tenderlonious, who created this illuminating pair of covers of songs from Shaker Notes in a Lewisham garden. 
‘Running On A Rainy Day’ is the revelation, a heart-breaking balearic pop gem gorgeously rendered, while ‘Honey Cats’ spaghetti western trip drags you further into their world and beyond. Another draft I "finished". It started with the piano loop from a jam I recorded in December 2016 at my friend's in Rodalquilar. I added up an additional trumpet take I didn't use for 'bristol chords'.

Vocals are taken from a CD I found at the library : "Le Chant Des Femmes Bulgares".

As I get more emotionally detached from my work, I don't really know much what to think about it. I kinda like it, though I hear a voice that says "it could be better". Sure, but in in the end, it is what it is. And I move on.

Phonica Special Editions follow up their inaugural release with an EP featuring three
remixes of singer, producer and Toronto native, Sandro Perri. Sandro has released more
than a dozen solo and collaborative records under his given name as well as under the
Polmo Polpo & Glissandro 70 monikers, mainly on Canadian cult imprint Constellation.

“Love & Light / The Drums Remixes” features reworks from Worst friends Tom Croose
and Slow Hands. Fresh from his recent outing on Resista, Tom Croose is kept busy with
not one, but two remixes of mr Perri. First up and taking up the whole of side A, “Love &
Light” – originally on 2011’s “Impossible Spaces” – gets a subtle electronic re-rub with
restrained electronic flourishes that gently complement the original's organic, ethereal
sound – a weirdly captivating, mystical trip! All that, while getting boosted from a
criminally short three and a half minutes to a more respectable nine plus…

Next up is Slow Hands, Tom Croose’s partner in Worst Friends who has released on
Wolf+Lamb. He takes “The Drums” (a track from Sandro’s debut album “Tiny Mirrors”) to
places where it’s never been before. by re-imagining the song into a breezy summer
anthem where old school electric piano stabs, handclaps and a general feel-good vibes
take centre stage.

Rounding off this excellent remix 12” we have Tom Croose again, who returns for
another version of “The Drums” and harmoniously marries synth riffs and a laid back
groove with Sandro’s signature contemplative vocal, rounding off this excellent remix
package in style.
