At only the young age of 6, Jee began performing at local talent shows around the city. “The first tape I brought was E. 1999 by Bone Thugs in 95. I memorized the entire album and wanted to rap ever since”. At the age of 13, a mutual friend introduced Wa’Jee to the global underground legend Cap D, of All Natural Inc. Cap D took a fondness to Jee and began taking him to professional recording studios. Under Capital D’s tutelage, Wa’Jee learned how to count bars, song structures, picking beats, and stage performances. In 2006, Jee, along with other students from across Chicago’s Public School system, was employed by Kennedy King College (KKC 89.3 FM), to operate and host a weekly radio show. Through this opportunity, Jee would go on to meet his future business partners and form Students of the Game (SOG Entertainment LLC). 

In late 2007, Wa’Jee released his debut album Younger Frame Older Mind to critical appeal in Chicago’s underground hip-hop scene. SOG Entertainment distributed 2000 hard copies and over 500 digital downloads of Younger Frame, Older Mind with no substantial financial support or advertising. “Product placement was everything, so we made sure to put the CDs in places where Hip Hop heads would go”. Within that time, Wa’Jee was in higher demand for local shows, producers, and artists. After the minor financial success of his first project, Wa’Jee turned his focus back to the streets. In early 2009, Wa’Jee released his second project, Food, Clothes, and Shelter. The landscape of musical distribution was changing to what we know now through YouTube and digital streaming.

So eno_hitz sends me a beat tape during our first session from earlier this week. Now I usually rest my ears and don't listen to music for almost two days after a recording session. So I finally listen to the beats today. Heard this track called "Cruise Control" at 5 something in the morning, and wrote the entire song by 7:30am. 12 hours later, We already doing the first mix for this song. Sometimes some beats/songs are just meant to be. Even on my off days I'm still working💪🏾
