The song is about how aspects of one's past can oftentimes impact our decisions for the future. And that it is important to realize that most, if not all of what we do is influenced by past trials and tribulations. The song elucidates the relevance of acknowledging those experiences but also depicts the importance of moving forward.

Deep Blue Skies

The song was written on the road while on the band's 2nd national tour. The song chronicles the personal reflections of self-actualization and independence while being away from "home". The song is about growing as an individual and also reflecting on nostalgic memories that have helped shape the path that led you here. This track was recorded at Pulse Music in NYC, and has an accompanying music video shot and directed by Tom Flynn, which will be promoted worldwide.

Wake The Sun has premiered the newly recorded composition “Tell Em All Again” and its accompanying video which can be screened here: https://youtu.be/uxAMmeI5kjk.
The band chose not to sit idle while immersed in the global pandemic, opting to utilize modern technology to collaborate while social distancing. The results capture the core nuances, energy and musicianship define the band’s sound. There is a notion of vintage renaissance in the music and imagery, while also exhibiting a young artist channeling a reawakening of the soulful music that moved and shook generations historically during times of crisis.
This latest recording of “Tell Em All Again” was mixed by Mike Watts of Vudu Studios, while the accompanying music video was produced by Tom Flynn. Dillon Mealey shares, “The composition illustrates a call to break the cycle of what society deems as normality, and the notion that so many people are brought up thinking they need to get a 9-5 job to simply make money, eat, sleep, and repeat until you die. The lyrics are about discovering who you are, creating your own path, and finding your identity. Too often people get wrapped up in others opinions, media views and instant gratification through social channels. The song elucidates the importance of taking time to get away from all that and to find your own happiness. I chose to depict a character, who as the narrator has identified these sentiments and is living them, and is telling his / her friends you can do it too, if you want to. From my perspective, there's a very real importance to sometimes get away from it all. Simply to make time for yourself, pursue goals and dreams, and think on your own. Nowhere is this more important than in today's current climate, and it's primarily why we feel this is an opportune time to release this song.”

Deep in the mud of Louisiana swamps, high in the glimmer of turquoise colored glass of Seattle skyscrapers, loud in the pink neon buzz of the LA strip, or stoic in the awe of Montana’s big sky country there is a sonic quality that vibrates through four young men. Wake The Sun’s sound spans many different eras and subgenres, confiding in that classic rock and roll sound that has been updated for our modern times. After two self-funded seven week nationally tours coast to coast, Wake The Sun developed an appreciation and understanding of what rock music can be, and what it can do to move people. Playing in countless venues and sharing the stage with countless other musicians, Wake the Sun grew and fine tuned their craft. First heading out on the road to exploit their explosive and unapologetic acid-washed rock, they also found a beauty in balance in the spaces and brief, and cherished silence. 

The band was formed in early Spring 2014, and is headed by frontman and songwriter, Dillon Mealey, hailing from the backwoods of upstate New York. He derives a certain soul in song creation from growing up on heavy doses of Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Van Morrison and exploring the many acres of woods that he grow up around as a child. Tom Perrota, the band’s lead guitarist, permeates the band’s sound with flashes of 60’s and early 70’s aural flair, while exhibiting his own unique and unabashed style. Jeffrey Alvarado, the bands bassist, drives heavy grooves with an old school feel that reverberates through a person’s chest and tugs with force. Marco Gill, the band’s latest addition, was the final touch on the band’s persona and sonic spirit. With heavy handed cymbal blasts and cutting kick patterns to deliberate ghost notes,  Marco brings an edge to the band that is violent and frenzied or is subtle and delicate to drive every song home.

In 2015, just one year after formation, the band set off on their first of two national tours, both 7 weeks in length. The tours were in support of their last release, a self-titled EP “Wake The Sun”, which included the songs “Wicked Souls”, “Grace and Faith”, and “Politics”. The band developed much over those two tours coast to coast. The band garnered a bit of notoriety during this time securing a release of their single “Grace and Faith” through Revolver Magazine. The band also received praise from prominent music critic Rob Daily at Daily Unsigned. In addition, the band also gained further acclimation after receiving “Gold”  in the Global Music awards under the “Rock” category and was mentioned on Billboard Magazine as a Billboard emerging artist. Soon after, Wake The Sun began to gain countless positive reviews from editorials and bloggers throughout the United States including “Best New Bands” out of Chicago.
