Some people say a man’s worth is measured in code.
His networks, subnets, routing, and load.
Buckets and Containers and clusters and builds,
a frontend that’s server-less and an app that kills
 
I loaded Sixteen Nodes and what did I get?
Another day older and deeper in debt.

I was born one morning when the cloud was in bloom,
Stacking up servers in my server room.
I logged into the console my heart filled with cheer,
But the meter kept running, it’s the bill I now fear.

I loaded sixteen nodes they all worked fine,
But the cost kept rising, I couldn’t decline.
With Lambdas and clusters, my workload grew, 
The bills piled up, what else could I do?

I left some service running all damn day

 
I’m stuck in this loop, spinning instances all day, 
With R D S and Dynamo-DB
I’m trapped in the cloud, with no way to escape.
But my apps keep running, it’s an un-ending tape.
 

So, if you’re thinking of diving into the cloud
Beware of the cost that will make you say “ow”.
AWS Services are powerful, that’s true
But manage them wisely, or they’ll own you too.
