Given the magnitude of this endeavour, it took us considerable time to curate this collection. Over the past year, the team have meticulously tested various trance jams on the dance floor, resulting in the selection of 8 edits and 2 bonus tracks (available with the full compilation purchase).

After kicking off its journey with a rich well-received eleven-track compilation at the end of last year, the Saint Brieuc-based Estuary Tapes brings to the virtual shelves its second release. For the occasion, the promising French label welcomes skilled producer nICo to its roster. With previous works featured on HardFist, Inside Out, and Sinchi, just to name a few, the Italian producer refuses to have his sonority pigeonholed and manages to deliver an interesting palate of colourful pieces.

For his debut on Estuary, nICo presents the expertly constructed “Unexplored Earths”, a four-theme EP with a concerning message: “the quest for a new habitable planet” – something we might need way sooner than expected due to the insatiable greed of the abusers of our fragile and doomed little blue dot.

Premiered here, the insightful “The Red Sun” opens the fete wrapped in what nICo considered the correct aura for the EP: "spacey and acid vibes, dub percussions, and shamanic rhythms” which resulted in a mesmerising and emotive cut filled with “textures, deep atmospheres, and solar melodies.”

"As a simple fact, this release probably has the longest history of creation. I mean compared to my other work. And I don't really remember all the details anymore. There's been a lot of changes in sound and titles. But maybe I wanted to create something like a soundtrack to an old skool action film or sci-fi.

In moments I paid attention to New Beat and in general to early rave scene. Thanks to the guys from Spazio for trusting me and realising my ideas".

Head Like A Frying Pan (Demo)

This track is inspired by the Mills of my home town (Bolton) and surrounding area and the warmth of northern people. In particular its about how they retook over these spaces after the hollowing out of the industrial north as production moved to India and the Far East. They are used for multitude of purposes from housing, to light industry, work spaces, art spaces, and a few acid house raves. The track starts with a simple beat and then gradually builds up layers of dark stabs, smooth modulating synths, and crazy lush pads, like a factory machine spinning into life or like the Northern spirit adapting to its new future.

Deriving from the on-going Italian Dance Wave series, this compilation showcases the best Italian electronic artists from around the world.
