“A Yankee Clipper In Congo Square” is an attempt to capture the sound of what we call “the melting pot.”
The album is the first released by WalkWest, and is a modern historical mashup of American musical styles.  Each song is built around an archival field recording originally made between 1930 and 1959, and surrounded with samples and live performances produced by WalkWest that call to mind the many styles and time periods of American and popular music.

WalkWest Productions is a music production company created to serve the specialized needs of the high-end film, broadcast and web production communities.  Steve Mullen, the creator of WalkWest, also teaches about the history of American musical styles at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
