About “Wall of Emotions”

This whole thing started as a way to take my dad’s mind off some really heavy stuff; I never thought it’d turn into a full-on collab between me; Serpent Around the Neck; and my dad; Clowns. We literally never make music together; not like this. His music has always said way more than he ever does out loud; and Wall of Emotions feels like a crack in that wall he’s always had up. For once, I got to see what he’s actually feeling; and yeah, there’s a lot of pain there.

Me and the boys came home my family was going through a rough time; somehow, in the middle of all that, we ended up making music. My dad just kind of stepped into this quiet leader role; he laid out the structure, told us what he was hearing, wrote the lyrics, built the melodies. He even helped me figure out how to sing it. It was wild. Even with everything he was going through, he found a way to let all of it out through the music; and while we thought we were doing this for him... I think he was actually helping us too.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I saw a version of him I’d never seen before; like... the real him.

His hand’s still healing, so his guitar playing isn’t what it used to be; but honestly, that just makes it hit harder. It’s not perfect; it’s real. You can hear it; you can feel it. Like he’s fighting through everything just to let it out. It was honestly inspiring. You can tell he just wants someone to listen; and we did. We heard him. And it was beautiful. Not just the music; him.

I’m proud of him; for showing up, for being vulnerable, for letting us in. For letting me in.

We’re hoping this isn’t just a one-time thing; that maybe this is the start of something new for him; something open. I just want him to know: we love you, and we’re here. Whenever you’re ready to be heard, we’re listening.
