Northern Ireland's Hammer and fast rising Zambian-Scottish talent KILIMANJARO team up for the first time on a brand new EP on Hammer’s Remmah label, backed by a pair of remixes from Australia's own Tornado Wallace.

After only one 2022 studio session, the pair quickly found Hamilton's Italo-driven house sound to be a perfect compliment to the Glasgow-raised & London-based La Cheetah resident's blend of Afro & Amapiano-inspired melody-driven rhythms.

KILIMANJARO's vocals provide the hand-in-the-air hooks that make the EP's original tracks the insistent dancefloor heaters that are already set favourites for the tightly-nit crew of DJs who have had the track early on. For the remixes, Lewie Day aka Tornado Wallace brings a breaks-based, densely layered sound that brings to mind the irresistible early work of The Chemical Brothers.

"Josh and I first met in Dundee years ago - as soon as he moved down to London we got the studio session going and hit it off immediately. We quickly found an easy working dynamic with Josh's real natural flow on the 808 - when Josh jumped on the mic we knew we had something we both loved, making a couple of bangers on the first day" - Rory Hamilton aka Hammer.

Field of Dreams is Al Mackenzie, a part-time pop star with D:Ream & full-time DJ and musician who also runs his own Retroforward nights, and graphic designer Chris Kentish from Field Theory, who has released on Futureboogie and Secret Life. They have worked together since 2017 on the likes of Pleasure Unit & Tici Taci and received big plaudits for their remix of Les Crocodiles' classic 'La Nuit Des Tropiques', including from the late Andrew Weatherall who went on to remix the pair. Following support on Radio 6 Music and a hiatus during the pandemic, they are now back with a deeper and edgier sound than previous outings. "Perhaps a sign of things to come, perhaps not," say the ever-evolving pair who like to keep fans guessing.

Opener 'Into The Sun' is a scintillating mix of deep rolling house grooves and authentic machine soul. The far-sighted chords and twinkling pads make for a reverential mood that draws you in for an emotional ride. The title track is a slow-motion workout with elastic bass and subtle acid lines under muttered vocals. It's hazy and lo-fi like all the best Detroit house.

The magnificent 'Mind Over Matter' is another timeless deep house sound with layer upon layer of synth warmth, cosmic radiance and perfectly dusty analogue grooves that work both body and mind. 'Into The Night' builds towards the peak of the party with more driving drums and pulsing acid that keeps you on edge and 'Mind Field' then cuts loose on more ramshackle and percussive house grooves with plenty of lush signature synth work from Field Of Dreams.

This emotive and immersive EP is a perfect return for this masterful pair.

Our latest release comes courtesy of RR, who already made an appearance on our ‘Hallo Montag’ series back in September. Now, with ‘Solutions’ we’re being treated to a whole four track EP - lucky us! ‘Be Ready’ (alongside Biroll and featuring ismo) starts off the proceedings with a beautiful jazzy piano
 improvisation, making it a great track to start a dj set with. Despite all that Jazz, with an organ and a saxophone also getting their solos, this track is not about chin-scratching appreciation of diminished chords. With a groove as solid as this at its core, this one is dance floor business for sure.
‘At Midnight’ is another joint effort with Biroll and pianos feature heavily on this one as well, but rather than jazzing it up, they are more on the Disco tip here. Along with a classic House groove, a swirling acid line and diva vocals, that’s a straight up party starter right there.
Substituting the four on the floor TR drums for a broken up Linndrum groove, RR goes deep and trippy with ‘Bert Müller’. Chilled out dreamscapes, far-away spoken word vocals and big reverbs will have your mind wandering as your head nods to the beat. Completing the EP, we return to ‘Be Ready’, remixed by Jad & The. Changing the style and tuning down the jazziness, the remix homes in on a bouncy Electro groove and an infectious melodic synth bass line. A rolling percussion loop sent through the phaser and cut-up psychedelic pads send us way out left-field for a moment but leave it to that bass to keep everything nicely on track.

Steeped in Latin rhythms, produced with the golden touch of Francesco de Bellis (Francisco), this two-tracker is set to a serious groove. Beats chatter and mingle in the evening heat of “Rec” Bass smoothness and brassy blasts are sweetened by Chiara’s vocals before dramatic strings flash like lightning, igniting this already energy-packed encounter. “Studio Line” continues that theatrical touch. Bold keys, echoing the cinematic grandeur of Italy, are supported by dynamic drum patterns as a vocal sample circles. Styles spin and spiral, the track twirling between genre tags refusing to be pigeonholed.
