I remember sitting on my friends Drew and Ryan's rooftop in Koreatown many years ago and we all were laughing about how we'd all lived in LA for years but none of us had gone surfing. We wrote the bulk of this song in a matter of an hour or so and had a clumsy demo of it. Unfortunately, Debate Team, the band they'd conceived and I was playing in, disbanded after Ryan moved to Oklahoma. I thought this song was too cool for people not to hear it. Such a common thing for people to choose safety over excitement.
