From humble beginnings on the Los Angeles underground to world tours of sold-out arenas, Edward Ma has seen it all in a career that now spans more than 15 years. Starting off as The Con Artist in the late 1990s, Ma produced for rappers such as Busdriver, P.E.A.C.E and Sole while holding a residency at Konkrete Jungle, where drum n bass and hip hop were spun side by side to hungry ears. In 2003, Ma reshaped himself as edIT. The next year he debuted with Crying Over Pros For No Reason on seminal UK label Planet Mu. The album melded together Ma's love of hip hop, drum n bass and experimental electronic music, a fusion that would presage hip hop's return to its electronic roots by the end of the decade. Crying Over Pros… sounded like nothing else at the time. It sounded like the future and it would put Ma on the path of his next evolution. In 2006 he co-founded The Glitch Mob, a project that would ultimately take over his solo work by 2010. Today the Mob inhabit a unique position in the dance music world, the roots of which go back to the sonic experiments of Crying Over Pros… Ten years on, the album is being reissued on limited edition vinyl and as a digital bundle with an extra five tracks from the original sessions. Its emotive power hasn't faded one bit and its relevance has only increased as the future it hinted at became the present we now live in.

Life is hard, trust me I know, and you know too,
because every scar we carry tells us the world is broken, and yet even in the wreckage we must believe that mankind deserves to survive,
because without that belief there is no path forward, only collapse into despair.

[Verse 2 – Love Before Hate]
Mankind has love in the heart,
and that love is the first truth we encounter as children,
because if we are fortunate enough to be raised in a family where love is given freely,
we experience love before we ever learn hate,
and hate only arrives later when schools demand obedience or jobs demand competition,
both of which are human constructs that can be dismantled and rebuilt.

[Verse 3 – The Weight of Cynicism]
It is difficult to remain optimistic,
and cynicism waits like a shadow to swallow us whole,
but listen carefully:
to change the world we do not need to change the behavior of every single person,
because most people are powerless anyway,
and the real lever is the one percent who hold the power,
because if their behavior changes,
the whole system shifts.

[Verse 4 – Words Not Weapons]
And here is the truth that must be spoken:
you do not need guns or bombs to reach them,
you need words, you need vision,
you need to show them that their own wealth and power can grow by creating markets that pull the species forward evolutionarily,
because when a species evolves in an intelligent and meaningful way,
every member benefits, not just through shallow trickle‑down economics,
but through the deep river of shared prosperity.

[Verse 5 – The Broken Economy]
The tragedy of our current economy is that it was twisted into meaningless markets designed only to make the wealthy more wealthy,
and that misuse creates fragility, collapse, and suffering for all,
but when the economy is aligned with the evolutionary advancement of the species,
the trickle becomes a river,
the flow becomes unstoppable,
and the economy itself becomes a species‑wide engine.

[Verse 6 – The True Markets]
What are these markets?
They are not abstract—
they are the primal needs of all living creatures:
to survive, to flourish,
to live a decent life filled with comfort and entertainment, because a technologically advanced species should not settle for misery,
and beyond survival the species must strive to avoid extinction,
which means spreading out into new environments and habitats,
building resilience against asteroids,
against climate, against ourselves.

[Verse 7 – The Conscious Choice]
We are the first species on this planet to realize consciously that we are in danger of extinction,
and that realization is both terrifying and liberating,
because it means we can choose,
it means we can design,
it means we can build markets that never collapse,
markets with infinite capacity to expand,
because they are rooted in the eternal needs of the species.

[Verse 8 – The Hive of Cooperation]
Economics was always supposed to be the hive of cooperation,
the rhythm of advancement,
the architecture of survival,
but it is broken now because economists never truly understood what economics is,
and the truth is simple:
economics is the design of species survival,
and now all we have to do is tell the one percent who are in charge of the species,
and show them that their own power is magnified when the species itself ascends.
