The Journal of Osteopathy, 1897, published The Method of Osteopathic Procedure. This approach is grounded in the philosophy of Aristotle and Immanuel Kant. A two-step process in Induction (analysis) and Deduction (synthesis). In this short recording, I review the previous three-hour presentation. Present are Marcin Rojtta, translating, and third-year students from the Akademia Osteopathii, Krakow, Poland on 10th December 2022. English/Polish.

Review of The Original Osteopathic Method.

How did the original osteopaths treat conditions such as typhoid, malaria, and influenza? Why do osteopaths not treat these conditions today? This presentation takes an incomplete look at the source of the change and suggests why osteopaths have narrowed their clinical range.

In 1904 Andrew Taylor Still described osteopathy as a form of surgery. This surgical thinking was one of the keys to his and earlier osteopath's successes. Surgical, rather than, manipulative thinking gave rise to a conscious participation in relation to anatomy.

In this short podcast I read Andrew Salter's take on rationalisation and objectivity. Andrew Salter (May 9, 1914 – October 6, 1996) was the founder of Conditioned Reflex Therapy, an early form of behaviour therapy which emphasised assertive and expressive behaviour as the way to combat the inhibitory personality traits which Salter believed were the underlying cause of most neuroses. In the 1940s, Salter introduced to American psychotherapy a Pavlovian model of hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis training.

There is a difference between seeing the whole horse and seeing the horse as a whole. Western philosophy is still under the influence of Plato and Aristotle. It has a distaste for personal experience due to the dominance of Plato in our culture. As a consequence seeing the horse is under the Platonic influence of fragmentation d separation. Unaware of this influence in our culture we cannot see the horse as a qualitative whole. This presentation brings this separation to light and tries to restore a dynamic way of seeing and palpating.

In this introduction, I present the idea of the cranial vertebrae. Osteopathically, attention will be paid to the work of Charlotte Weaver, DO (1884 - 1964). Central to this presentation is the philosophical, historical and phenomenological methods that allowed Dr weaver to reach her ideas. These will be covered in areas such as intuition, morphology, metamorphosis and in particular the metaphysical approach and methodology. An intuitive approach was central to the success of Andrew Taylor Still placing his "mind's eye" always at the beginning of his diagnosis and treatment which will be covered in a further presentation. During 1917 - 20 pandemic of influenza American osteopaths not only recorded their 'experiences with the epidemic' many, in particular Carl P. McConnell, DO, wrote about the possible pathophysiology and patient care. While not evidence-based in this podcast Walter McKone, DO, after trawling the early journals, sees an emerging trend towards diagnosis and treatment. Today medical intervention includes immunosuppression while the osteopathic approach was a releasing of a 'locked' sympathetico-immune system resulting in a cytokine storm via the rib, ganglia and pleural complex.
