Made a mix with songs that say more than anything I could write really.....Going to play two songs I wrote a while ago, one which I performed live in January 2020 at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago and another which was made shortly after, they're both influenced by what was taking place in Chile at the time which mirrors in some ways what we are seeing in Colombia now. As some of you may know, since the end of april in Colombia there have been more than 2,000 cases of police violence against protesters, 33 victims of eye injuries and more than 40 civilians killed by the police. Since the beginning of the year more than 60 rights defenders have been assasinated, and among them 20 were indigenous leaders. Since 2016, over 400 human rights defenders have been killed. In all this darkness, there may be some hope that the protests can create meaningful change. Last Sunday, Chileans elected a new group of citizens who will write a new constitution for the country. This was one of the core demands of the huge protests of 2019/2020.  It will be the first anywhere in the world to be written by an equal number of men and women and it will replace the constitution that has been in place since the years of the military dictatorship.  The only reason this moment of hope is possible in Chile is because of the incredible social movements that rose up to demand change. As I've said elsewhere, the courage and determination of Chilean students, activists, protesters, writers, artists has been astounding and they have/are shifted/shifting the political landscape and will continue to do so. In the past month I've heard stories of Colombian protesters taking cues from Chilean protesters and beautiful solidarity between Colombians and Palestinians also. We have so much to learn from each other. May this solidarity and interconnectedness bring us better days and in the meantime may music sustain us and nourish us. Danish producer Dalholt reveals his first solo LP La Vie, a soul-nurturing batch of downtempo delights. The album will be released November 10th on Music For Dreams.

Mads Dalholt is previously known for his work as part of the duo Dalholt & Langkilde, whose 2015 album Sur Plus has been heralded as a modern classic in the downtempo genre. More recently, Dalholt has released an EP in collaboration with Bjarno (of Djuma Soundsystem).

This new LP, titled La Vie, continues Dalholt exploration of the melodic, soulful and dreamy terrain of electronic music. The music is produced in a hybrid setup of electronic and acoustic elements. Dalholt’s mixing of hardware synths and analog guitars, pianos and drums generates a warm and textured sound, which chugs along in deep rhythms and swelling melodics arranged around a well-travelled suite of vocal samples.

Like Dalholt’s previous material, La Vie, is a record that orients itself towards the Ibiza-scene and its surrounding realm. The artist is a notorious provider of sunset soundtracks on the while isle and has featured on notable Balearic and chill-out compilations such as Jockey Club, Milchbar and Buddha-bar.

The Copenhagen-based indie label has entered the third decade of its existence as a stronghold in the outer regions of pop and electronic music. The label’s ever eclectic output reflects the taste of its founder and man-in-charge, DJ and producer Kenneth Bager: a man as comfortable with campy sunbathed pop as he is with finespun minimalism and experimental electronic adventures. What is sought here at the Copenhagen offices is music with a personality.

As a showcase of the label’s current operations, Kenneth Bager here compiles the highlights from this year’s releases. “I think the selection of tracks reflects the consistent quality of output we’ve been able to produce. Our music is very eclectic and often outside the codes of conventional taste. But I think that is what sets us apart and why people keep listening to us,” Bager says.

The compilation comprises 25 tracks which run the full spectrum of MFD’s
offerings: from full-bodied Balearic anthems and funk-heavy house pop to
sweeping ambient landscapes and nebulous electronic experiments.

Check out such gems as the warm, cornucopian downtempo of ‘El Malagueño’ from Spanish Be.lanuit’s debut LP; the exquisite repose of Ambala’s ‘Quiet Yellow Purple’; the ethereal melancholia of Hess Is More’s ‘You And Me And Them’, the vulcanic funk of Julie Pavon’s house pop hit ‘Don’t Call Me or the ghostly electro-acoustic echoes of Prins Emanuel’s ‘Västan Vind’.
