The latest edition of our free download series welcomes Hugo Cantarra and PLN with their rework of ‘Intro’ by The XX. Hailing from France, Hugo Cantarra has been a fixture of the house music underground for the better part of a decade. On the strength of early releases via Armada and SIZE Records, Hugo established a sound that was both memorable and club-effective, propelling him to subsequent projects via Anjunadeep, Cr2, Siona Records and Ultra; amongst others. Now a staple of the melodic house scene, the French artist has the distinction of racking up 41 millions streams and 1.5 million shazams, while remixing the likes of Danny Howard, Eli & Fur, Gorgon City and Technotronic, in turn earning the praise of Adriatique, Blondish, Camelphat, Chris Avantgarde, Kevin De Vries and Vintage Culture. Also a well-travelled DJ, Hugo has shared the booth with a bevy of top international tastemakers in Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Guy Gerber, David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Meduza, Roger Sanchez and WhoMadeWho. A highlight and much requested track across Hugo’s 2024 gigs has been a rework of ‘Intro’ by The XX. Written in conjunction with elusive Polish artist and bootleg aficionado PLN, the duo’s rework has been a festival and club highlight this past year, championed by the likes of Eli & Fur who premiered it at the Yuma tent at Coachella to a resounding response, as well as Cosmic Gate, Korolova and Vintage Culture. Whispered Skies

Shiver is the DJ name of California native Arun Sivanandam.

Born in India, Arun moved to Saudi Arabia where he grew up with Rock and Roll and Heavy Metal music. After coming to SoCal for higher education in 2001, he was exposed to Grunge Rock and gravitated to collecting Jazz and Funk vinyl during grad school. Here he experienced music at scale, attending large EDM festivals such as Electric Forest, EDC, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo. His love for magic experienced as a journey through dance floor energy was born.

Arun started experiencing faster basslines through Techno upon moving to the Bay area in 2018. Life took him away from his passion of music, having lost his father and going through a difficult divorce. Walking Lake Merritt at the tail end of the Pandemic, Arun was connected cosmically and spontaneously to an individual who invited him to Psytrance parties such as Sammi’s Lake Merritt Forresta parties and he was invited to stay with 2 roommates in Oakland (Viśvāmitr and Luzidtrip) who inspired him to listen to Dark Psy and Hitech music and opened him up to the love of Goa Gil. Attending psytrance house parties, Lake Parties, Santa Cruz beach parties, Heaven on Earth and DNA Lounge, Arun was encouraged to play music in late 2023. After participating in several intentional Psychedelic Ceremonies to lift his wellbeing, Arun participated as a Facilitator to hold space for others in their psychedelic journeys, and understood that music is an expression of life and processing emotions in flow. Named after the lord Shiva, his DJ project Shiver was born in early 2024 among friends of Fractal Factory who have a love of Psychedelics used for common good.

As Shiver, he is a DJ resident at Fuse Collective in SF and 3am Playground in LA. Though he has played a wider spectrum of music at public venues (Melodic House, DnB, Tech House, Techno), Shiver at its core is a Psytrance project focused on groovy basslines and psychedelic melodies exploring a functional distortion of soundscapes to navigate seemingly chaotic rhythms and elevate collective consciousness through shared energy on and off the dancefloor. Shiver debuted Full on Psytrance and Psytech at house parties in Oakland and San Mateo, before shifting to public venues such as Buzzworks, BRIX, Lost and Found and others. As a dancefloor commander, he has played at Goa Moon Festival, Point of Origin Festival, Pink Dragon Festival.

Shiver welcomes you to feel the Psychedelic groove and resonate together to recall ancient wisdom of love, peace and harmony towards Mother Earth and each other.
