Cosmic Bridge returns with Cosmology vol. 2, a new compilation celebrating the label's roots and its ongoing progression into the realms of dubwise sound system music and the “slow/fast” sound. 

Once again selected by label founder Om Unit, the ten exclusive productions that make up Cosmology vol. 2 showcase the talents of existing artists, new faces, and kindred spirits operating in the deeper waters of the drum & bass world. 

Opening the proceedings is the label's latest addition: Hungarian-born, NYC-residing DJ Madd alongside vocalist Jay Sparker. ‘After Dark’ blends traditional roots vibes and modern day sub pressure with a catchy hook to start things off on the right foot. Parisian dub scientist Moresounds and German vibes specialist Danny Scrilla both deliver two cuts each, the former teaming up with DJ Madd for ‘Undastand’ at the half-way mark of the album and the latter taking us out with an ambient VIP of his piano-led ‘Rigel 7’. Last but not least, Boston's Graphs, who debuted on the label at the tail end of 2014, teases the tension on the short but sweet ‘Wrist On Glacier’. 

The rest of the compilation sees Om Unit in collaboration mode. First with partner in crime, and Astrophonica boss, Fracture for ‘Chatting Breeze’ and a subtle homage to the enduring influence of Chicago's footwork sound. Then on ‘Half The Battle’ where he spars with none other than Distance over a sparse production that channels the dark energy and eyes-down fetichism of classic dubstep. Completing the picture are two remixes of recent Om Unit productions: London's Sully crunches ‘Wagonists Riddim’ down into 8-bit audio pixels while drum & bass veterans Loxy & Resound propel ‘Spiritwerk’ deeper into the abyss. 

With Cosmology vol. 2, Om Unit and crew continue their search for the perfect beat and invite you to join them for a rightful celebration. Forward!

Terra Null Recordings proudly presents its twelfth release, two tracks from Belgium based Owl and with help from frequent collaborator, German native ILL_K. The two tracks together, “Space Totem” and “Obscure Brightness”, represent a dynamic descent into raw sound and texture, a place where Owl seems to feel especially at home. “Space Totem” as the lead and collaborative effort of the release, drives ahead with resounding sub-bass which is in turn complimented beautifully by airy percussion flourishes that fill up the atmosphere while not overwhelming one's ear. “Obscure Brightness” as its counterpart is even more explorative in nature with sparse drums that move in and around haunting pads that are as deep as they are contemplative. Together they highlight very well both Owl and Terra Null’s passion for experimentation within the 170bpm space and present a firm statement of intent around that notion. We hope you enjoy music as we press ever onward into parts unknown.

"This mix is a selection of mostly my own work, including some unreleased sketches and ideas which might become future album tracks, some recent tracks from my new compilation Cosmology, music from forthcoming releases and a couple of older tracks that went relatively under the radar. I also included a beat-less version of "The Lake" from my last EP Torchlight vol.1 which I personally enjoy listening to more than the original.

It is difficult to speak too much about my own work because I believe we are all transceivers of information, and therefore my thoughts on the music won't be the same as yours so why preach about it? The best way I could describe the mix is to say it is threading a line from past to future via the present, and stylistically somewhat skewed to what you might consider "typical" of my stuff...perhaps.

Stylistically I hope to have brought the more etheric side of my work to the forefront for this selection, making it, I hope a good repeated listen. I think the best mixes take their time and fill a space around other tasks rather than demanding your entire concentration for an hour or more.

Warminstrel is a multi genre electronic music artist and performer. All music written, performed, arranged, mixed and mangled by Warren J Dancey. Warminstrel is an ex-teenage-punk-free-party rebel residing in the tranquil Wiltshire countryside. He has making music for himself and friends for over 30 years in many and varied guises. These days Warminstrel is often found in his modern home studio making genre-hopping electronica with and trippy, eclectic feel taking those 30 years of magical musical ingestion, ruminating on it for a bit then spitting out brain twisting sonic-aural remedies for the modern mind.
Warminstrel also plays out a live hardware PA in techno, breakbeat or DnB flavours. Heavy bass so watch those bins!
